The Burlington Huskies have wrapped up their regular season with a win over Dubois on Saturday. Burlington ends with a 8-1 overall record with their only loss of the season coming from a Montana team and going 6-0 in Conference play. “For us it felt good to be back on the field,” said Coach Trent Aagard. “After a bye week, the guys have been chomping at the bit to get after it again. Dubois is unfortunately not going to make the postseason, but they had some kids who still cared about football. They are a better team than their record indicates.”

Offensively, the Huskies had 459 yards with rushing touchdowns from Kole Walker, Parker Cook, Carsten Schlenker, Chase Allen, Rulon Andrew and Taft Winters and receiving touchdowns from Schlenker, James McNiven, Brad Davidson, Chase Bassett and Winters.

“We did a good job at spreading the ball around. The guys did a good job of taking advantage of their shots. I thought we did a good job of blocking up front and our guys ran hard. Kole and Carsten both threw a couple of good, deep passes. Dubois really sold out to stop some runs and that gave us some opportunities over the top.”

Defensively, Burlington had 59 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 6 sacks from Cook, Cole Gotfredson, McNiven and Winters, 3 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and 2 blocked kicks. “On defense, I thought we did a good job of taking away what they like to do. We did a good job of taking the ball away and giving our offense good field position. We gave up 2 big pass plays. One was well thrown and a good catch. It was nice to have as complete of a team as we have had in a bit.

This was a good game to help prepare us for the playoffs. It was good to get competitive snaps from so many kids. Now we are on to the postseason where it’s win or go home. It’s an exciting time of year,” said Aagard.

The Huskies are the top seed from the north and will host Hanna-Elk Mountain for the first round of the State Play-off Championships. Kickoff will be at 2 p.m. Admission will be charged $5 for students and adults.
