Hello from the Basin Library
Autumn is here! Leaves are falling and pumpkins are turning into Jack-O-Lanterns here at the Basin Library. This month’s Story Time crafts are all about fall and Halloween. Both preschool and elementary age groups meet at the same time, 10:30 on Fridays.
Last month’s reading challenge was a big hit, with many of our junior patrons completing a black-out on our non-fiction bingo. This month’s reading challenge will focus on fiction and using our imagination: Halloween, fables, adventures, and more! This will be the last reading challenge until the Christmas break. You can pick up a book-web at the library or print one off from our Facebook page Big Horn County Library-Basin.
Here at the library, we love to use our imagination, and that means dressing up in costumes! We are all excited about our yearly Halloween Walk through the County Courthouse and beyond on Friday, October 30th at 10:30. Show up in costume for some early Trick-or-Treating.
We will be participating in the community Trunk-or-Treat again this year. We have so much fun seeing all of the families in their costumes!
We have collected our first $10,000 of Lynn’s Superfoods of Greybull, grocery receipts. Our local P.E.O. chapter is helping us collect with the paperwork to receive our $100 donation based on the receipts. Keep bringing them in! This is an ongoing way to help your local library.
We will be hosting help with LIEP on-line registration forms in the morning of October 6, 13, and 20. Please give us a call for more information 307-568-2388.
We will be closed October 12 for the national holiday of Indigenous People’s Day, formerly known as Columbus Day.
We have added to our STEAM technology activities with a generous grant from Rocky Mountain Power. They were a big hit with our Friday Club kids last month, so we’ll be adding them to our Friday 2:00 line up on our calendar. We have also expanded our board games collection. Both the Chess and Lego clubs are still going strong. Last month, Miss Trista had them build egg-cages, then took them outside to see if their eggs would survive a ride down the zip line. Those kids were so excited! Many of the eggs broke, but 3 teams only had cracks, and one winner had a pristine egg and cage after their zip! Show up on the fourth Friday to see what Miss Trista has planned for October.
Friends of the Basin Library (FOBL) meet the first Wednesday of the month at 10:00, everyone is welcome. FOBL is one of our biggest donators and volunteer group.
Book Club meets the last Wednesday of the month at 3:00 p.m.
You can find all our books on the card catalog located on our website, along with an easy viewing list of new releases. https://www.bhcwylibrarysystem.org/.
See you among the bookshelves!
