Letter to the Editor: Delivering political mail

When I pick up my mail, I simultaneously feel compassion for postal employees, and relief that I’m no longer stuffing political mail into boxes. The worst was in 2018 when the governorship was open. Clearly there was a lot of outside money spent on these flyers. The divisive and misleading statements were particularly hard to deliver. Heartbreaking, really.

A current example is the attacks on RJ Kost. I had the pleasure of meeting RJ and Caroline recently. I found them both to be down-to-earth, approachable people who truly want to serve our communities. RJ encourages our input as citizens. True representation is a rare commodity these days.

As I understand it, RJ cast certain votes in order to honor the Wyoming Constitution that he swore an oath to. Now those votes are being used to try to paint him as being contrary to Wyoming values. In fact, he is our neighbor and I’m glad he takes his oath seriously.

I’m tired of the negative voices in politics. How about our candidates tell us what they intend to do for us? What if we lift one another up instead of tearing each other apart?  I want to encourage everyone to meet with candidates when they come to our area. Do your research, because if we don’t…we are the sheep.
