• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

July 20 — An officer assisted the Billings Montana Police Department on South Street.

July 22 —An officer initiated activity regarding a traffic hazard at South Third Street.

A livestock incident was reported on U.S. Highway 16/20 South involving a foal that was stuck in a ditch.

An officer initiated activity at Road 26, Greybull to assist the Big Horn County Sheriff’s office.

An officer assisted the general public on South Sixth Street regarding suspicious circumstances.

A property damage accident was reported at U.S. 16/20 South on Lane 37.5.

July 23 — A citizen complaint was reported on South Seventh Street regarding a neighbor watering along the fence line for more than 24 hours.

An abandoned vehicle was reported on North Seventh Street.

A civil matter was reported on Center Street involving a civil standby.

A harassment incident was reported at the Wyoming Retirement Center on U.S. 16/20 South involving a dispute between residents. No action was required.

An officer initiated activity on North Fifth Street regarding an ordinance violation. A warning was issued.

July 24 — A vandalism incident was reported at the Big Horn County Fairgrounds on Holdrege Avenue involving a vandalized sign.

July 26 — A utility issue was reported at North Sixth Street and G Street after water was observed bubbling out of the roadway.

An officer initiated community relations activity on Wyoming Highway 30.

An officer assisted the general public at the Basin Police Department on South Third Street.

An officer assisted the general public Cottonwood Cottages on C Street.

• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

July 20 - 7:55 a.m.: A citizen complaint was taken on Beaver Creek Road in Shell. 

3:13 p.m.: A civil standby was requested at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin; a man requested a deputy be present to receive his property and was advised both parties must agree to a civil standby. 

8:08 p.m.: An agency assist call for the Billings, Mont. police department resulted in a cancelled unit. Billings PD was advised a man had not returned home from his doctor’s appointment in Billings; his phone location was in Basin as he had left his phone at home, but the subject was safe in Billings. 

July 22 - 2:02 a.m.: A trespass order was requested on Lane 43 in Basin for a “soon-to-be ex-girlfriend,” the eviction process was explained to the caller. 

7:07 a.m.: An injured eagle was reported on Antelope Street in Basin. 

6:52 p.m.: Information was requested on a trespass order on Center Street in Basin. 

7:25 p.m.: Two goats were reported out on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

10:43 p.m.: A single vehicle reportedly flipped on its roof at Highway 20 and Lane 37.5 in Greybull; BHCSO, Basin and Greybull police departments and Wyoming Highway Patrol responded. One was transported to Three Rivers hospital in Basin, Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. 

July 23 - 7:45 a.m.: A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported on Highway 20 South in Greybull. 

11:04 a.m.: Information was requested on getting a trespass order on Center Street in Basin. 

July 24 - 7:38 a.m.: Dispatch handled a call reporting sheep outside of their fence on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

8:57 a.m.: A semi pulling equipment was reported driving on the wrong side and “all over” the road; a Basin PD officer reportedly tailed the driver and found no traffic violations. 

10:07 a.m.: A civil road issue on Lane 35 in Emblem was cleared by patrol. 

11:41 a.m.: Goats were reported out on Lane 39 in Otto. 

12:17 p.m.: A 2012 Dodge Ram was reported stolen on Midway Meadows Lane in Basin, the reporting party knew the subject, who was found with the vehicle in Evanston. 

1:46 p.m.: Ten horses were reported out on Highway 14 in Shell. 

July 25 - 2:26 p.m.: A traffic complaint was made on a vehicle allegedly weaving across lanes of travel on Highway 20 South in Greybull. 

2:54 p.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop on North Fourth Street in Basin. 

4:27 p.m.: BHCSO was called to assist Buffalo Police Department with a potential mental health crisis at West Tensleep Lake Trailhead on Forest Service Road 27 in Ten Sleep, officers were unable to locate or contact the subject. 

8:16 p.m.: Horses were reported out on Highway 30 in Basin. 

July 26 - 5:54 a.m.: A power bump utility call was made to Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin, handled by dispatch. 

1:53 p.m.: An abandoned vehicle was reported at Highway 20 and Road 26 in Greybull. 

5:25 p.m.: A lost dog was reported at West Ten Sleep Lake Trailhead on Forest Service Road 27 in Ten Sleep. 

5:27 p.m.: Community relations were conducted at Big Horn County Fairgrounds on Holdrege Avenue in Basin. 

9:15 p.m.: Five hikers were reported overdue at West Ten Sleep Lake Trailhead on Forest Service Road in Ten Sleep; the reporting party later called back and informed dispatch the hikers were partway to Buffalo already. A response unit was cancelled. 

ARRESTS

Marlena Gale Flesher of Basin was arrested in the lobby of Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin Wednesday, July 22 on a failure to appear warrant, released on her own recognizance. 

William Eric Vauter of Houston, Texas was arrested on Road 26 in Greybull on Wednesday, July 22 for three misdemeanor charges: reckless endangerment or conduct, reckless driving, operation of vehicles upon approach; plus one felony charge of aggravated assault and battery, to serve five days. 

Vanessa Shian Weaver of Greybull was arrested in Basin on Saturday, July 25 for a probation violation, to serve two days.
