It is really learning by doing when the boys in the farm shop class repair broken halters, line traces and other parts of harnesses. For this month leather work will be the basis of the shop work. By doing these jobs for their parents or school patrons, the boys are gaining some practical experience.
Christie Massey and Loren Holloway finished putting up their ice Tuesday. They say the ice is excellent this year.
A baby boy was brought by the stork to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jones last Friday night. Fred has certainly been stepping high since and seems to be about the richest man in the Greybull valley.

February 1, 1951
Thermometers tumbled to an official 36 degrees below zero Sunday night as the Big Horn Basin was seized in the grip of an extreme cold wave moving southward from Alaska and Canada. Low gas pressure forced the closing of the Basin grammar school Monday, although classes were resumed there on Tuesday. No busses operated on rural routes Monday from the Basin schools. Temperatures rose slowly as the week progressed, following an official low Monday night of 43 below zero. The official reading Tuesday night was 23 degrees below zero.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Peterson of Emblem are the parents of a son born last Thursday at St. Luke’s hospital in Greybull.
Fire broke out in the Methodist parsonage on South Sixth Street shortly after one o’clock Tuesday afternoon but was quickly extinguished with only minor damage resulting. Flames were ignited when newspapers stuffed under the kitchen sink in an effort to thaw frozen water pipes were set ablaze by a blowtorch being used to clear the pipes.

Listed among the top 10 growers for the 1975 sugar beet growing season were John Bullinger & Sons of Otto, Miller Brothers of Basin and Lewis & Green of Basin.
Four Basin residents will leave next Wednesday for Honolulu and a vacation tour of Hawaii. They are Mrs. Craig Stoelk, Mrs. Dale Wenke, Mrs. Larry Royal and Mrs. Tom Black.
Darla Ingalls, 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ingalls, was taken to South Big Horn County Hospital Sunday after she fell while skiing. It was discovered that she had fractured a leg in the accident.
Those on the A honor roll in Burlington High school include: Mark Davidson, Claudia Johnson, Dale Johnson, Roger Michaels, Peggy Nicholoson, Tyler Wardell, Eileen Winters Sara Heath, Carol Davidson and Cynthia Wardell.

Robby Tolman of Otto and Katrina Krause of Burlington have been named to the dean’s list for the 2000 fall semester at Central Wyoming College.
The Riverside Rebels gained a few new fans thanks to Jim Gibbs. Gibbs “chartered” a bus, picked up the whole class of kindergarteners, and personally served as their chaperone at the Riverside-Wind River basketball game Friday night. The class included: Anna Flitner, Kari Bowden, Seth George, Lachrisha Butz, Amanda Cowan, Brittany Vigil, Kinli Vigil, Keri Boyles, Katie Crosby and Katherine Schenk.
