Santa’s Bazaar, Little Shoppers this Saturday

The Basin Area Chamber’s annual Santa Bazaar starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The event is held in the main hall at the Fairgrounds in Basin. Vendors will be showcasing gourmet foods, jewelry, woodworks, Christmas décor and gifts. B & B Concessions will have coffee, pop, donuts and lunch available for purchase.

Also on Saturday is Little Shoppers. Children 10 and under may shop for up to 10 gifts. Each gift costs one dollar. A portion of the hall is curtained off for “top secret” shopping by the kids. No parents, grandparents, adults other than designated helpers are allowed in that area. Local FFA members will help the kids shop.

It is important that gift tags are filled out at home prior to the event. The tags and a shopping list are essential to having a quick and smooth shopping experience.

“Not having the tags prefilled out slows down the process,” Chamber VP Susan Wynn explained. “The kids can’t go into the area without the tags.  The adults must stand around the chamber’s table to fill out the tags while the kids impatiently wait. That creates a quagmire at the entry point. If the tags are already filled out, after paying the kids may go straight into the shopping area.”

The gifts will be wrapped, tagged and put in bags by the volunteers. Adults may shop at the vendors while the kids are shopping.

Thanks to B & B, each child that shops at Little Shoppers will receive a free drink and hot dog.
