New council members for both Basin and Manderson

Burlington retains incumbents 

Mike Dellos and Linda Weeks were elected to the Basin Town Council in Tuesday’s general election. This will be the first term for both. Dellos received 333 votes. Weeks received 254 votes. Sitting councilmembers Stuart DesRosier received 216 votes while Carl Olson’s tally was 195. 

Dellos said he appreciated all those who voted for him to be on the council. He said he doesn’t necessarily have any priorities, but he is aware of some of the issues. For example, the sewer project and the Third Street project. “I want to be a person that puts the people that voted me in first and what they would like me to do as a councilman.” 

Weeks said she is excited to be a part of the town council. 

“I’m looking forward to getting to work,” she said.

Sharon Sanford and Thea Saunders will serve on the Manderson Town Council for four years. Both were write-ins in the primary election. Sanford’s vote count was 20. Saunders received 21. Sanford was not available for comment on the night of the election. Saunders said thank you to those who voted for her and she is excited to be in a position she can do something. “Other than be obnoxious and ask questions.” Incumbent Judy Bury received 19 votes. Howard Applegarth received 12. 

Councilman Tim Patrick was reelected for a two-year term. He received 22 votes. Running against Patrick was Chris Saunders. Saunders received 19 votes. Patrick was unavailable for comment at press time. 

Burlington Town Council members Jenny Booth and Don Hibbert will remain on the council. Booth received 122 votes. Hibbert received 129 votes.
