• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

Mar. 16 — A scam was reported at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s office on Murphy Street.

Mar. 17 — Someone called Basin Town Hall on West B Street requesting information.

An officer initiated activity regarding an ordinance violation at South Sixth Street.

An officer assisted the general public at South Fifth Street after being flagged down by a citizen.

An officer initiated activity regarding a barking dog complaint at South Eighth Street.

Mar. 18 — Suspicious circumstances were reported at Basin Park on North Sixth Street regarding a box sitting on the bench at the park. It was returned to the owner.

A loose dog was reported on South Sixth Street.

An officer at the Big Horn Sheriff’s Office (BHSO) on Murphy Street assisted the public on a phone call.

Mar. 21 — An officer assisted at the BHSO for a fight in the lobby.

A custody dispute occurred at BHSO.

A citizen complaint regarding a car door wide open and music blasting occurred on Eighth Avenue Street.

An officer assisted another agency at Big Horn County Detention Facility on Murphy Street.

Mar. 22 — A report was taken regarding an ordinance violation at South Eighth Street.

A traffic complaint occurred on South Fourth Street regarding a silver Toyota Camry swerving the last several miles northbound from Manderson. It was coming into Basin as call was happening.

A domestic animal problem occurred on North Eight Street.

• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

March 16 – 12:43 a.m.: A suspicious circumstance reported on Lane 56 was cleared by patrol. 

4:29 p.m.: Accidental property damage was reported at Road 17 and Highway 30 in Otto. 

March 17 – 9:36 a.m.: A computer scam was reported on Golf Course Road in Basin. 

11:37 a.m.: Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office assisted the public at their office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

2:41 p.m.: An officer assisted a motorist at Highway 14/16/20 and Highway 310 in Greybull. 

2:08 p.m.: A suspicious circumstance was reported on Cemetery Road in Greybull. 

5:59 p.m.: BHCSO assisted the public in contacting Department of Family Services at their office in Basin. 

8:05 p.m.: A domestic dispute was reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

March 18 – 6:10 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Probation and Parole at their office in Basin. 

8:49 p.m.: A vehicle vs. dog accident was reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Emblem. 

March 19 – 4:23 a.m.: A single vehicle rollover was reported on Highway 20 South in Basin, BHCSO could not locate a driver on the scene and the incident was turned over to Wyoming Highway Patrol. 

7:17 a.m.: A cat was reported on a power pole on Lane 35 in Emblem. 

11:53 a.m.: A fire was reported at Road 14 and Lane 35 in Emblem, with no controlled burn called in. Burlington Volunteer Fire Department responded.

1:49 p.m.: A smoke column reported between Manderson and Basin was cleared by patrol, patrol determined it was a controlled burn executed during a fire ban.  

1:53 p.m.: A large column of smoke between Manderson and the county line was reported from Highway 433, determined to be a controlled burn. 

2:04 p.m.: A citizen reported a dead skunk and deer on their road. 

4:46 p.m.: Water was reported coming out of a city shutoff valve on Highway 14 in Greybull. 

March 20 – 5:30 p.m.: Smoke was reported west of Basin on Highway 30, cleared by patrol. 

9:29 p.m.: Cows were reported out on Greybull River Road in Greybull. 

March 21 – 4:32 a.m.: A Subaru driver reported they were stuck on Forest Service Road 27, AAA was unable to assist due to the distance from pavement, Big Horn County Search and Rescue South responded. 

8:28 a.m.: A civil issue regarding threats was reported to BHCSO in Basin. 

6:32 p.m.: An officer was unable to locate an abandoned vehicle reported neat Wyo-Ben on Road 26 in Greybull. 

6:44 p.m.: A fire was reported near structures and trees on Trapper Creek Road in Shell. 

6:49 p.m.: Assistance was requested for Shell Fire Department on Trapper Creek Road. 

March 22 – 2:19 a.m.: A domestic dispute was reported on Rairden Lane where a wife claimed her husband had been drinking since 10 p.m. and the two got in a verbal altercation, no charges were pressed. 

8:15 a.m.: A man was reported walking in the lane of travel on Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

2:11 p.m.: A burning ditch adjacent to a corn stalk field at Road 14 and Lane 35 in Emblem was reported, the landowner was advised of the fire ban and extinguished the flames. 

3:20 p.m.: A smoke plume was reported visible to the west of Highway 310 from mile marker 213 in Greybull, the landowner had been previously advised of the burn ban. 

4:42 p.m.: A couch seat posing a traffic hazard was removed from Highway 14/16/20 in Emblem. 

ARRESTS

Michael Jack Peterson of Burlington was sentenced serving time, 15 days, in Basin on Sunday, March 22.

Cody Williams, Basin, battery, $1,220; jail: 180 days; suspended: 39 days, unsupervised probation: 6 months

Nolan T Allgood, Buffalo, DUI Alcohol equal to or greater than .08% - second offense within 10 years, $770, jail: 179 days; suspended: 135 days; supervised probation: 2 years; drive without interlock device: required for an interlock restricted license under W.S. 31-7-402 - first offense, $570, jail: 179 days; suspended: 135 days; supervised probation: 6 months.

Adam Hendrickson, Litchfield, Minn., vehicle exceeded 30mph in urban district (6+ over), $174.

Michael Sinchetru, Gillette, unlawful contact: rude, insolent or angry touches w/o bodily injury, $70, jail: 20 days. 

Isaiah Palato, Basin, simple assault, $520.

Steven Rettew, Harrisburg, Pa., expired temporary license permit/improper registration, $150

Speeding 70 mph zone:

Jeremy Swank, Cowley, $160.
