• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

Dec. 15 — An officer attempted to deliver an ordinance violation on Holdrege Avenue. 

Basin PD assisted the general public on South Sixth Street.

Dec. 16 — Trespassing occurred at the Family Dollar store.

A traffic complaint occurred on US Hwy 16/20 South. Officer unable to locate.

Basin PD assisted the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office (BHCSO) with livestock on US 16/20.  Officer was unable to locate.

Basin PD was asked to assist the EMS with a patient at Three Rivers Health. 

Dec. 17 — An officer checked on a panic alarm at Big Horn Rural Electric. Check OK.

Basin PD helped with information at the BHCSO.

Dec. 19 — Dogs at large on A Street/ South 12th Street.

An officer issued a citation for a domestic animal problem on East Wyoming Avenue.

Dec. 20 — Basin PD took a report on East Wyoming Ave of dogs versus sheep.

Dec. 22 — An officer responded to a call of a semitruck with brakes on fire on C Street/South Sixth Street.

A resident came to the Basin PD building with information only.

An officer assisted the general public at the Basin police office.

Vandalism was reported Washington Park. Office checked, nothing found. 

Dec. 23 — An officer assisted the general public on South Sixth Street.

Basin PD assisted a citizen at the BHCSO.

An officer assisted the general public on South Sixth Street.

Field contact was made with a resident on North Seventh Street. An officer gave information.

An officer assisted the general public on North Seventh Street.

Dec. 24 — Basin PD was informed of an abandoned vehicle at the fairgrounds. Vehicle was inoperable and leaving there until a tow truck could be contacted.

Dec. 25 — An officer assisted the general public twice on South Sixth Street.

Dec. 26 — A resident called BHCSO to talk to Basin PD. Dispatch was able to handle the call.

An officer assisted the general public on South Sixth Street.

Dec. 27 — An officer issued an ordinance violation on Holdrege Avenue.

A citizen gave a complaint of a strong sulfur smell by the Amerigas propane. Officer cleared.

There was a loose dog on East Wyoming Avenue. 

A dog was out on East Wyoming Avenue.

Larceny occurred on North Eighth Street. Officer cleared.

• Sheriff's Report

Dec. 22 – 9:16 a.m.: Community Relations were conducted at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

3:49 p.m.: Missing cattle were reported on Basin Garden Road in Basin. 

7:06 p.m.: A suspicious trash can was reported on Center Avenue in Manderson. 

9:41 p.m.: BHSCO assisted Greybull Police Department at North Sixth Avenue and Fourth Avenue North in Greybull. 

Dec. 23 – 1:37 p.m.: Possible animal abuse was reported on Road 28.5 in Basin. 

3:10 p.m.: An accident with property damage was reported at Antelope Butte Ski Lodge on Forest Service Road 830 in Shell. 

4:21 p.m.: Lost cattle were reported on Basin Garden Road in Basin. 

6:16 p.m.: Field contact was made at Hiway Bar & Café on Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

Dec. 24 – 11:15 a.m.: A dog problem was reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

4:04 p.m.: A custody dispute was handled o Road 10 in Burlington. 

Dec. 25 – 9:37 a.m.: A suspicious person was reported on Highway 30 in Burlington. 

Dec. 26 – 8:27 p.m.: BHSCO assisted Department of Family Services at their office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

Dec. 27 – 6:15 a.m.: Possible road damage due to a semi with an exposed rim was reported to BHSCO on Murphy Street in Basin. 

9:02 a.m.: BHSCO assisted the general public at their office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

9:54 a.m.: tire debris was reported as a road hazard on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

10:11 a.m.: A wallet was reported found at BHSCO on Murphy Street in Basin. 

4:11 p.m.: A one vehicle roll over was reported on Highway 32 in Emblem. 

6:31 p.m.: An extra patrol was conducted at Big Horn County Weed and Pest in Greybull, no action required. 

Dec. 28 – 11:20 a.m.: Dispatch assisted the general public at BHSCO in Basin. 

ARRESTS

Vance Davis Woodward of Riverton was arrested in Otto on Thursday, Dec. 25 for DWUI of a controlled substance, driving under suspension, driving without an interlock device and as a person under the influence of a controlled substance, to be held for four days, $15,000 bail.

Recent court fines and sentences handed down or bonds forfeited in the circuit court of Judge Edward G. Luhm:  

Jayson Koch, Greybull, DUI: alcohol – incapable of safely driving – second offense within 10 years, jail: 90 days, suspended: 83 days, $770; driving while license suspended, jail: 90 days, suspended 83 days, $570; failure to maintain a single lane, failure to provide proof of liability insurance, both counts bound over.
