• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

Sept. 29 — Basin PD issued an ordinance violation on North Eighth Street.

An officer issued a warning for a leash violation on the walking path.

Sept. 30 — An officer issued an ordinance violation for a contractor’s permit on South Fourth Street.

An officer assisted the public at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office (BHCSO).

Basin PD assisted the public at the Wyoming Retirement Center (WRC).

A suspicious person was seen at the Big Horn County Courthouse; officer cleared.

A loose dog was at the Family Dollar.

An accident with property damage occurred on North Fifth Street.

Oct. 1 — An officer was unable to issue an ordinance violation letter to a resident on South Fifth Street.

A loose dog was found on South Fifth Street.

An officer issued an ordinance violation on South Eighth Street.

A spotted Catahoula dog with the owner’s name on tag was found on West B Street.

An ordinance violation was given on North Eighth Street.

An ordinance violation call was made about a resident on South Eighth Street.

Basin PD assisted the BHCSO at East Second Street in Manderson.

Oct. 2 — An officer helped a dog that was wrapped in his rope on South Fifth Street.

An officer took a call about a male sitting on the side of the road by WRC.

Basin PD assisted the BHCSO with an accident on US Hwy 20 South.

Basin PD took a report of a possible dead eagle on South Seventh Street. Game and Fish was contacted for the dead turkey vulture.

An officer was contacted about a dead antelope on West B Street; Game and Fish was contacted.

An officer assisted the public at the BHCSO.

Oct. 3 — A resident came to the BHCSO because of a scam call. Information was taken.

Oct. 5 — Two lost dogs were reported on North Eighth Street. Officer unable to locate.

A citizen on North Eighth Street complained of loud music coming from a house on the corner of Seventh Street and F Street.

Basin PD assisted a motorist on C Street and South Third Street.

An officer assisted the public at Three Rivers Health.

• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

Sept. 29 – 4:11 a.m.: A rapid SOS ping outside of Big Horn County was handled by dispatch. 

1 p.m.: A vehicle fire was reported on Lane 41.5 in Burlington. Burlington Fire Department responded, reportedly the fire was already largely extinguished.  

1:47 p.m.: BHSCO assisted the general public at their office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

3:59 p.m.: An officer participated in community relations at Burlington Schools on School Avenue in Burlington. 

6:21 p.m.: In an open 911 call on Highway 31 in Manderson, the caller was advised of the incident. 

6:54 p.m.: The caller was advised of the incident in an open 911 call on Lane 39.5 in Otto. Due to a visibility issue, one car allegedly struck the other, causing it to roll into a field. The driver of the rolled vehicle, a 54-year-old female, was transported to the hospital.

8:37 p.m.: A member of the public received assistance at BHCSO in Basin. 

Sept. 30 – 7:26 a.m.: A two-vehicle crash was reported on Highway 30 in Burlington. 

10:50 a.m.: BHSCO assisted Manderson Police Department on Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

11:47 a.m.: An officer requested information on an old case at BHSCO. 

Oct. 1 – 10:06 a.m.: An Abandoned vehicle was reported at Big Horn County Courthouse on C Street in Basin. 

11:07 a.m.: Dispatch assisted the general public at BHSCO in Basin. 

1:43 p.m.: A suspicious person was reported trying to get into Shell Falls on Highway 14 in Shell. 

2:36 p.m.: Livestock were reported loose on Main Street in Shell. 

2:42 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the subject of a traffic complaint on Highway 30 in Otto. 

9:55 p.m.: A domestic disturbance was reported on East Second Street in Manderson. 

11:39 p.m.: An officer assisted a motorist on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

Oct. 2 -- 10:44 a.m.: A citation was issued in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 20 South in Greybull. A blue Chevy Malibu headed southbound from Greybull was reportedly struck on the driver’s side by an Infiniti sedan. A juvenile in the Malibu was transported to Three Rivers Health, with the Infiniti driver cited for failure to maintain lane of travel. 

11:42 a.m.: A large white dog was reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

12:54 p.m.: A wildlife encounter was reported on Highway 31 in Manderson. 

4:40 p.m.: An officer was unable to locate a reported traffic hazard on Highway 30 in Basin. 

5:41 p.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop on Highway 310 n Greybull. 

6:13 p.m.: BHSCO assisted Bighorn National Forest in giving information to the public. 

9:27 p.m.: An officer assisted a motorist on Lane 38 in Burlington. 

Oct. 3 – 9:50 a.m.: An officer was requested to assist the public with a civil issue at Double Doc Ranch on Bear Creek Road in Shell. 

2:23 p.m.: A hit and run vehicle accident was reported on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

3:09 p.m.: An iPhone crash detection alert was found clear on Highway 20 South in Greybull. 

3:24 p.m.: A lost firearm was reported on Forest Service Road 17 in Big Horn County. 

5:40 p.m.: A traffic hazard was reported on Highway 14 in Shell. 

6:45 p.m.: A hit and run accident was reported on Highway 14 in Shell. 

6:54 pm.: A found dog was reported on Highway 14 in Shell. 

7:12 p.m.: A tree was reported fallen across the roadway at Alkali Road and Cold Springs Road in Hyattville. 

Oct. 4 – 5:54 a.m.: A dog vs. car accident was reported on Golf Course Road in Basin. 

10:20 a.m.: Goats were reported out on Highway 20 South in Greybull. 

11:07 a.m.: Livestock was reported loose at Highway 14/16/20 and Highway 310 in Greybull. 

2:26 p.m.: A black cow was reported out of the fence near the junction on Highway 310 in Greybull. 

4:23 p.m.: BHSCO assisted Greybull Police Department at Third Avenue South in Greybull. 

Oct. 5 – 2:35 a.m.: A utility call on North Street in Basin was handled by dispatch. 

9:26 a.m.: A commercial fire alarm at Antelope Butte Ski Lodge on Forest Service Road 830 in Shell was reported false. 

11:46 a.m.: A traffic hazard was reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Emblem. 

1:31 p.m.: Officers were requested to locate a man on Road 52 in Hyattville after he walked from his silver Chevy Colorado to get cell service after being stuck nearly two hours. 

3:38 p.m.: An extra patrol was conducted at South Big Horn County Airport on Hercules Road in Greybull. 

11:21 p.m.: One black cow was reported out at the intersection of Highway 14/16/20 and Highway 310 in Greybull. 

ARRESTS

Michael Lee Sinchetru of Manderson was arrested on domestic violence and bodily injury charges at 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1 in Manderson. Reportedly he was bailed after two days in jail.
