• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

July 21 — Basin PD served an ordinance violation on Crescent Dr and South 9th Street.

July 22 — A report was taken for property damage on West E Street.

An officer assisted another agency on North Fourth Street.

July 23 — An officer enforced an ordinance on North Fourth Street. 

Basin PD assisted another agency with a disturbance on Twelvth Ave North.

Basin PD assisted another agency on Twelvth Avenue North.

July 25 — A REDDI report was given of a red convertible traveling toward Basin from the South on Hwy. 16/20 driving with exceeding speed and passing traffic unsafely.

A carbon monoxide and smoke detector was going off on E Street, no smoke seen by caller.

An officer assisted Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office with a warrant arrest.

A dog was at large on North Eighth Street.

A citizen complaint on North Eighth Street and Richardson Avenue.

July 26 — A water line break was reported on West B Street.

An officer assisted another agency for a Washakie County welfare check.

July 27 — An officer assisted the general public on South Sixth Street.

An officer assisted another agency with a status check on South Sherman Avenue in Manderson.

• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

July 21 – 5:30 a.m.: A vehicle vs. deer collision was reported on Highway 14 in Shell. 

9:32 a.m.: Livestock were reported lost on Golf Course Road in Basin. 

10:51 a.m.: An officer assisted a motorist with changing a flat tire on Highway 14/16/20 in Emblem.

4:09 p.m.: A citizen complained of tar on their vehicle from traffic work on C Street in Basin. 

4:56 p.m.: Suspicious circumstances were reported on Highway 14 in Shell. 

5:20 p.m.: A welfare check was requested and then cancelled on Highway 14 in Shell. 

July 22 – 9:36 p.m.: A complaint of pivot water hitting the road on Orchard Bench Road in Basin was made. 

9:44 p.m.: An officer helped a person in need of directions on Highway 31 in Manderson. 

10 p.m.: An extra patrol was made at Manderson Town Hall on West Railway Street in Manderson. 

July 23 – 5:39 a.m.: An abandoned vehicle was reported on Highway 14 in Greybull. 

12:02 p.m.: A caller reported their neighbor’s cows wandered onto their property at BLM Road 1132 and Lane 39. 

7:33 p.m.: A citizen expressed concern regarding injured birds on Lane 49.5 in Manderson. 

7:35 p.m.: A utility call was made regarding no water service on High Line Drive in Shell. 

8:26 p.m.: Sheep were reported standing in the roadway on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

July 24 – 3:42 a.m.: A lost dog was reported on South Seventh Street in Basin. 

5:43 a.m.: A complaint of pivot water hitting the road on Orchard Bench Road in Basin was made. 

4:19 p.m.: A dog at large was reported at Lane 37 and Highway 30 in Burlington. 

7:33 p.m.: A domestic dispute was reported on Trapper Creek Road in Shell. 

8:25 p.m.: A suspicious vehicle was reported at Table Mountain on Road 14 in Emblem. 

8:58 p.m.: Horses were reported on the roadway past Shell Falls on Highway 14 in Shell. 

9:38 p.m.: An extra patrol was initiated on Trapper Creek Road in Shell. 

July 25 – 1 a.m.: A suspicious person was reported on Sixth Avenue North in Greybull. 

5:30 p.m.: Sheep were reported out at Road 28 and Orchard Bench Road in Basin. 

5:41 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a citation issued at Road 31 and Highway 14 in Shell. 

6:41 p.m.: An officer participated in community relations at Burlington Town Park on West Poplar Avenue in Burlington. 

8:31 p.m.: Larceny was reported on Forest Service Road 14. 

10:08 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a citation issued on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

11:46 p.m.: Dispatch assisted Carbon County Montana. 

July 26 – 1:11 a.m.: An officer assisted the general public at Big Horn Federal Savings Bank on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

8:38 a.m.: An officer initiated activity at Pioneer Days on North Main Street in Burlington. 

10:14 a.m.: A dog was reported out on Highway 31 in Manderson. 

5:59 p.m.: A lightning strike-caused grass fire was reported on Highway 14 in Shell. The caller later reported they were able to put it out, Shell Fire Department responded. 

6:40 p.m.: A tree was reported down on Trapper Creek Road in Shell. 

6:40 p.m.: Officers assisted Washakie County on a welfare check on Highway 20 in Manderson. 

July 27 – 12:35 a.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a citation issued on Highway 14/16/20 in Emblem. 

3:35 a.m.: The first of twelve utility calls was made by various citizens in Shell and Greybull reporting water services were down, the last of which was made at 9:51 a.m. 

12:47 p.m.: Dispatch assisted a caller at Paint Rock Lakes on Forest Service Road 17 in need of a tow truck. 

6:22 p.m.: A caller asked about evacuations near Meadowlark Lake, the Sheriff’s Office was unaware of any evacuation orders. 

8:20 p.m.: A question regarding fire evacuation orders in the Big Horn Mountains was handled by dispatch. 

ARRESTS

Travis Dale Study on Manderson was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on Monday, July 21 at 2:06 p.m. for seven days. 

Ramon Hernandez of Worland was sentenced and arrested in Basin on Wednesday, July 23 at 6 p.m. for three days. 

Travis Richard Bertolini of Greybull was arrested on Friday, July 25 at 6:20 p.m. for failure to appear. 

Christoper Patrick Vanvoorhis of Worland was arrested on Friday, July 25 at 4:25 p.m. at booking on four felony charges: theft felony, conspiracy, forgery and buying or receiving stolen property. 

Dulcie Kate Vanvoorhis of Worland was arrested on Friday, July 25 at 4:48 p.m. in the BHCSO lobby on four felony charges: theft felony, conspiracy, possession of writing known to be forged and buying, receiving or disposing of stolen property.
