• Police Report
The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):
June 23 — An officer assisted the general public on South Sixth Street.
June 24 — Basin PD was called for a raw water problem on South Fourth Street.
June 25 — An officer assisted a motorist on US Hwy 16/20 with a possible accident.
A resident came into the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office (BHCSO) to report being attacked by 2 dogs at the raw water pond, no dogs found.
An officer made a visit to the Basin Community Center pool.
Three sheep were found at the Helena Chemical building.
A medication that was found was taken to Three Rivers Health for identification.
Sheep were out on North Street.
An officer assisted the general public at Family Dollar.
June 26 — A resident came to the BHCSO and asked to speak to an officer about the missing girl from last night.
A propane tank was spewing gas on Matteson Avenue and couldn’t get it turned off.
An officer met with the American Legion at the Basin Police Department.
June 27 — An officer assisted the general public on South Seventh Street.
Basin PD assisted the general public on West A Street.
An officer responded to a minor accident with property damage at the Overland Express Mart.
Basin PD assisted the general public at the Wyoming Retirement Center.
An officer assisted the general public on South Sixth Street.
A cat was hit by a vehicle on South Sixth Street.
There were loose sheep on North Ninth Street.
June 28 — An officer assisted a motorist at Big Horn County Fairgrounds.
A football was stuck in a tree at Washington Park and an officer assisted in getting it out.
June 29 — Suspicious circumstances on South Sixth Street, believes someone is messing with their lawn mower.
Assisted the Big Horn Basin Counseling Service with utility issues.
A dog was at large on North Fourth Street.
A suspicious vehicle was reported on Montana Avenue.
BHCSO passed along BOLO information to a Basin officer.
A domestic dispute occurred on C Street.
June 30 — An officer assisted another agency with an adult employee at Ace hardware who was intoxicated, an arrest was made.
Basin PD enforced an ordinance violation on South Fourth Street to Mountain Mechanics.
A traffic complaint was reported on Wyoming Hwy 30.
An officer responded to a domestic dispute on Center Avenue.
An officer assisted someone at Martin Apartment on North Eighth Street with their phone that was not working.
An officer assisted the general public on A Street.
A citizen on A Street said they could hear someone setting off fireworks.
July 1 — A resident on A Street called about a trespass issue.
A traffic hazard occurred at South Fourth and A Street.
A field contact was made by an officer on South Fourth Street.
July 2 — A REDDI report occurred on US 16/20.
A suspicious person was at the Overland Express Mart officer unable to locate.
A possible prank/scam threat occurred on North Seventh Street.
July 3 — A suspicious vehicle was reported at the First Baptist Church; vehicle was checked and was cleared.
Town Hall reported to an officer of a resident on Crescent Dr. stacking wood in the street.
A vehicle accident occurred on Cheyenne Street no injuries.
July 4 — An officer assisted the general public twice on South Sixth Street
Basin PD assisted the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office with an emergency medical service call.
A traffic complaint was made about a black dodge pick up all over the road on US 16/20.
July 5 — A citizen on Zane Avenue was complaining about fireworks.
An officer provided information to a resident on South Sixth Street.
A domestic animal was found on East Wyoming Avenue.
July 6 — Basin PD responded to a citizen complaint on South Ninth Street.
An officer assisted the general public at the Big Horn County Courthouse.
An officer assisted the general public on South Fourth Street
An animal was lost on North Seventh Street.
• Sheriff's Report
The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court):
June 30 – 2:10 a.m.: Washakie County Search and Rescue requested assistance with a girl missing in the forest near Bear Lodge, the call was referred to Sheridan County.
12:58 p.m.: A motorist requested a tow truck be sent up the mountain to assist them on Highway 14 near Shell.
3:32 p.m.: A tire was reported in the roadway on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull.
4:19 p.m.: A wildland fire was reported outside of Big Horn County, handled by dispatch.
6:01 p.m.: A domestic dispute was reported on Center Avenue in Manderson.
6:35 p.m.: A wildlife encounter was reported on North Third Street in Greybull.
July 1 – 9:24 a.m.: A livestock issue was reported at Road 5 and Lane 40 in Burlington.
11:19 p.m.: A Greybull resident requested that Yavapai County Arizona officials check on their uncle who resided there, it was reported to BHCSO that he was found deceased.
12:09 p.m.: A suspicious person was reported on Highway 14 in Shell, WY, officers were unable to locate.
1:59 p.m.: A suspicious person was reported throwing things in the road and appearing intoxicated at Shell Store on Main Street in Shell. Officers investigated the man and found he had no warrants, so drove him back to Greybull.
3:56 p.m.: A ditch fire started by an improperly extinguished burn pile was reported west of Highway 30 and Greybull River Road in Basin. The County Fire Warden and Burlington Fire Department responded.
11:52 p.m.: Big Horn County Search and Rescue assisted in the location of a camper in the Battle Creek area of the Bighorn Mountains. The camper, a woman from Minnesota, was found to have altitude sickness and received medical transport.
July 2 – 1:05 a.m.: Officers were called to assist Basin PD with a disturbance at Stockman’s Bar on South Fourth Street in Basin.
10:48 a.m.: Sheep were reported loose on the lawn at Big Horn Basin Group Home on Highway 20 South in Basin.
10:57 a.m.: Pigs were reported out on Highway 14 in Shell.
2:42 p.m.: A R.E.D.D.I report was made on Highway 20 South in Greybull.
6:36 p.m.: A suspicious person was reported at Overland Express Mart on North Sixth Street in Greybull, officers were unable to locate.
8:48 p.m.: Officers assisted Highway Patrol on Highway 20 South in Greybull.
9 p.m.: Officers assisted Highway Patrol on Highway 20 South in Greybull.
9:07 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a citation issued at Railroad Street and 13th Avenue North in Greybull.
9:13 p.m.: Officers assisted Highway Patrol with K-9 training on Highway 20 South in Basin.
9:14 p.m.: Officers assisted Highway Patrol with K-9 training on North Fourth Street in Basin.
9:16 p.m.: Officers assisted Highway Patrol with K-9 training on Highway 20 South in Basin.
9:19 p.m.: Officers assisted Highway Patrol with K-9 training on North Fourth Street in Basin.
9:31 p.m.: Officers assisted Highway Patrol with K-9 training on South Fourth Street in Basin.
9:33 p.m.: Agency assistance for Highway Patrol was requested at Family Dollar on North Sixth Street in Greybull.
10:02 p.m.: An officer assisted Highway Patrol on North Fourth Street in Greybull.
10:43 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a citation issued at Highway 20 South and Greybull River Road in Greybull.
July 3 – 11:18 a.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a citation issued at South Fourth Street and A Street in Basin.
5:50 p.m.: A lost dog was reported on South 12th Street in Basin.
6:28 p.m.: A white van was reported in the ditch off Highway 31 in Manderson. Its occupants were found to be sick and vomiting.
8:44 p.m.: Dispatch assisted Park County with an abandoned vehicle call.
9:02 p.m.: An extra patrol was conducted at Wardell Reservoir in Otto.
10:23 p.m.: A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported on Highway 310 in Greybull.
10:34 p.m. Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office was asked to assist Carbon County, Mont.
11:09 p.m.: A stray dog was reported at a residence on Husky Avenue in Burlington.
July 4 – 9:07 a.m.: Cows were reported on Highway 31 in Manderson, officers were unable to locate.
5:10 p.m.: Flash flooding was reported at Highway 30 and Lane 35 in Burlington. An irrigation ditch flooded the roadway, the Sheriff’s Office and irrigation company responded.
6:47 p.m.: A R.E.D.D.I report was made at Burlington Fire Hall on North Main Street in Burlington.
6:55 p.m.: A fireworks complaint was made on West Poplar Avenue in Burlington.
July 5 – 1:21 a.m.: A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Emblem.
9:29 a.m.: A moose was reported on Cedar Avenue in Burlington.
10:52 a.m.: A lost dog was reported on Highway 30 in Burlington.
12:04 p.m.: A civil dispute amongst family members was reported at Big Horn Basin Group Home.
1:05 p.m.: Cattle were reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Burlington.
4:17 p.m.: Three pickups and trailers were reported parked along the roadway on Road 43.5.
8:18 p.m.: A cow was reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Burlington.
8:47 p.m.: A black rottweiler/kelpie mix was reported missing on Golf Course Road in Basin.
9:20 p.m.: A R.E.D.D.I report was made on Highway 43.5.
9:39 p.m.: Threats were reported by a citizen on Highway 14 in Shell.
9:59 p.m.: Officers assisted Greybull PD at Antler Motel on North Sixth Street in Greybull.
July 6 – 12:49 p.m.: Livestock abuse was reported on Forest Service Road 244 on Greybull, found clear.
3:07 p.m.: A suspicious person was reported on C Street in Basin.
7:10 p.m.: A horse crossing the highway, possibly injured, was reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Emblem.
