• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

Sept. 14 - 11:01 a.m.: A caller asked for an extra patrol on their property where they thought kids might be partying on Lane 34 in Greybull. 

11:43 a.m.: A citizen complaint was taken on Beaver Creek Road in Shell regarding an ongoing neighbor dispute; one neighbor alleged the other was taking pictures of their property. 

12:51 p.m.: A person was trespassed from Greybull schools. 

1:32 p.m.: A traffic hazard was reported on Road 36 in Shell. 

2:33 p.m.: A scam was reported on Orchard Bench Road in Basin. 

3:30 p.m.: A motorcycle accident was reported on Cold Springs Road in Hyattville. A dirtbike rider wrecked and was flown by helicopter out of the area, injuries unknown. Search and Rescue recovered the bike. 

Sept. 15 - 12:44 a.m.: A citation for battery was issued following a disturbance reported on Highway 30 in Basin.

10:35 a.m.: Information was taken on a lost dog on Road Nine in Burlington. 

11:32 a.m.: Suspicious circumstances were reported at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin. A truck driver reported they had passed through Lovell in June and noticed several Alabama license plates, concerned they may be the victim of stalking. 

8:23 p.m.: An iPhone detected crash with likely injuries was reported on Highway 14 in Shell, found to be a false alarm.

Sept. 16 - 7:40 a.m.: Community relations were conducted at Riverside Middle High School on West B Street in Basin. 

9:47 a.m.: A traffic complaint was taken on Highway 20 South in Basin. The reporting party’s phone pinged and dispatch called back; the caller stated that they were going to call in a blue Volkswagen allegedly passing over the double yellow line, but upon closer inspection, the car had handicap plates and the caller had changed their mind about reporting.  

10:10 a.m.: An extra-large vacuum hose was reported as a traffic hazard was reported on Highway 20 South in Basin, found to be the sewer drain pipe from an RV. 

11:03 a.m.: A scam was reported to Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin where the scam caller posed as a Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office deputy. 

6:59 p.m.: A traffic complaint was made on Road 26 in Greybull regarding bentonite trucks on the side of the road. 

10:17 p.m.: Lost dogs were reported on Fifth Street in Manderson. 

1:30 p.m.: Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office assisted Greybull Police Department on 12th Avenue North in Greybull. 

Sept. 17 - 8:13 a.m.: A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported on Beaver Creek Road in Shell. 

9:09 a.m.: A county road sign was reported down on Beaver Creek Road in Shell.

2:32 p.m.: Community relations were conducted at Riverside Middle High School on West B Street in Basin. 

9:33 p.m.: A domestic animal call was made on Lane 43 in Big Horn County. The caller alleged the neighbor’s white sheepdog was standing on the patio furniture looking in their window; the neighbor had previously been trespassed from the property and was unable to retrieve the dog. 

11:46 a.m.: A traffic complaint was made on a person allegedly passing unsafely on Highway 14 in Greybull. 

4:40 p.m.: A bale of hay was reported as a traffic hazard at Highway 30 and Highway 14 in Burlington. 

5:56 p.m.: Livestock was reported out on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull.

6:21 p.m.: Community relations were conducted at Riverside High School on West B Street in Basin. 

6:32 p.m.: Community relations were conducted at Greybull High School on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

6:58 p.m.: A one vehicle accident was reported on Greybull River Road in Greybull. The vehicle was drivable, with front-end damage and airbags deployed; the deputy could not find where it had driven off the road. No injuries were reported. 

Sept. 19 - 4:26 a.m.: An orange fire ball was reported by the Emblem Post Office, responders were unable to locate. 

11:50 a.m.: Community relations were conducted at Greybull High School on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

4:48 p.m.: Community relations were conducted at the football game at Burlington Schools on School Avenue in Burlington. 

Sept. 20 - 12:25 a.m.: An injured deer was reported on North Fourth Street in Basin. 

9:56 p.m.: Overdue family members were reported to BHCSO. The subjects were located in Sheridan County, and Sheridan County was able to contact them, confirming they planned to stay on the mountains another day. 

10:44 p.m.: Bears were spotted in the area of Road Eight in Burlington. The caller reported they were 95% certain they had seen a grizzly sow and two cubs between Lane 40 and Lane 40 1/2, Game and Fish was notified. 

ARRESTS

Boyd Joseph Van Fleet of Greybull was arrested in Greybull Thursday, Sept. 17 on a probation violation, to serve four days. 

Timothy Wayne Hall of Lovell was arrested in Lovell Monday, Sept. 14 for interference with a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance in plant form less than three ounces, to serve seven days.
