• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

Aug 24 — A larceny incident was reported on South Seventh Street.

Aug 25 —A citizen complaint was reported on North Seventh Street.

A citizen complaint was reported on North Seventh Street involving a black Chevrolet pickup reportedly dumping items around town.

An officer assisted another agency on South Sixth Street regarding a 61-year-old woman who had reportedly hit her head several times over the past week and sustained a severe concussion.

Aug 26 —A traffic complaint was reported near milepost 104 on Wyoming Highway 30 involving a tan WIS camper/ATC toy hauler with black trim and a black tank cap missing. The vehicle was unable to be located.

A traffic complaint was reported near milepost 199 on U.S. Highway 16/20 South involving a newer white Ford pickup traveling southbound. The driver was reportedly texting while driving.

Aug 27 — A citizen complaint was reported on West F Street regarding motorcycles and four-wheelers traveling down the street.

A traffic complaint was reported on C Street. Another agency assisted the Basin Police Department.

Aug 28 — An officer assisted another agency at Absaroka Head Start Basin-Greybull on Rue Avenue regarding a reported gas odor that was causing headaches. Detectors were reportedly not going off.

Aug 31 — A domestic animal incident was reported on Antelope Street in Powell involving a loose dog.

An officer assisted the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Golf Course Road.

A traffic complaint was reported near milepost 202 on U.S.16/20.

A traffic complaint was reported at Club Dauntless on U.S. 16/20.

Sep 01 — A citizen complaint was reported on North Eighth Street regarding a neighbor who dug a trench along the property line.

A citizen complaint was reported on William Street regarding excessive noise.

Sep 02 — A utility issue was reported at North Sixth Street and Zane Avenue.

An officer initiated information-only activity at Overland Express Mart on North Fourth Street.

Sep 03 — A domestic animal incident was reported at Myrtle Avenue and South Sixth Street involving a black and tan Corgi running loose.

A traffic complaint was reported on South Sixth Street involving a FedEx driver driving at a high rate of speed and erratically.

Sep 04 — A traffic complaint was reported on South Fifth Street.

An officer assisted another agency near milepost 193 on U.S. 16/20 regarding a reported vehicle crash detected. The vehicle was unable to be located.

An officer initiated community relations activity at Riverside Middle/High School on West B Street.

An officer assisted another agency on Orchard Bench Road regarding a cattail fire caused by a side-by-side that drove past a residence and toward the creek. 

An officer initiated information-only activity on South Sixth Street.

An officer initiated activity at the BHCSO on Murphy Street regarding a request for a statewide broadcast with special attention to Park, Washakie and Fremont counties.

Sep 05 — A larceny incident was reported on North Eighth Street involving a stolen firearm.

An officer assisted the general public on East Street regarding concerns involving an ex-husband. Information was provided.

An officer initiated community relations activity at First Baptist Church on Wyoming 30.

A civil matter was reported on C Street involving a subject who was in town to move her aunt’s belongings out of an apartment.

An officer assisted the general public at milepost 197 on North Fourth Street.

Sep 06 — An officer assisted the general public at the Wyoming Retirement Center on U.S. 16/20 South.

Suspicious circumstances were reported on North Eighth Street involving a man burning a sofa and other furniture on the East Street side of a residence.

Sep 08 — An officer assisted the general public at the Wyoming Retirement Center on U.S. Highway 16/20 regarding an incident between residents in the north wing.

 Sep 09 — A suspicious person was reported at Washington Park on C Street.

An information-only incident was reported at Overland Express Mart on North Fourth Street.

Sep 10 — An officer assisted the general public on North Sixth Street regarding a stove that had been left on.

An officer initiated activity at North Fifth Street and Zane Avenue regarding an ordinance violation.

Sep 11 — An officer assisted the general public at the BHCSO on Murphy Street.

A property damage accident was reported at Basin Market on South Fourth Street involving a hit-and-run. Follow-up was needed.

An officer initiated activity at the Basin Sewer Lagoon on North Street regarding an abandoned trailer that had been tagged the previous week.

An officer assisted the general public at the BHCSO on Murphy Street.

Sep 12 — A physical fight was reported on C Street. It was unknown whether weapons were involved.

Brandon Kenneth Nyberg was arrested on C Street on a felony charge.

Sep 13 — A domestic animal incident was reported at the BHCSO on Murphy Street involving a dog at large.

An information-only incident was reported at the BHCSO on Murphy Street regarding an inmate who requested to make contact with an officer.

• Sheriff's Report

Sept. 6 - 2:06 p.m.: Shots fired were reported on Lane 35 in Greybull near the Shell Canal. 

3:15 p.m.: A side-by-side crash was reported on Forest Service Road 14 in Bighorn National Forest. 

9:13 p.m.: Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office assisted Basin Police Department on North Eighth Street in Basin. 

Sept. 7- 10:53 a.m.: Mailbox vandalism was reported on Lane 32. 5 in Shell. 

1:50 p.m.: A traffic complaint was made on Highway 20 South in Greybull. Officers were unable to locate. 

2:45 p.m.: A horse issue was reported on Highway 14 in Shell. 

Sept. 8 - 6:36 a.m.: A traffic control request was made for moving cattle along Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

2:28 p.m.: A trespassing issue was reported to Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

Sept. 9 - 9:07 a.m.: BHCSO assisted Highway Patrol on Highway 14 in Shell. 

10:22 a.m.: A suspicious person was reported at Washington Park on C Street in Basin. 

3:31 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Department of Family Services on Fourth Avenue South in Greybull. 

4:21 p.m.: Pigs were loose in the reporting party’s field at Highway 30 and Road 17 in Otto. 

Sept. 10 - 4:37 p.m.: Smoke was reported on Lane 39 in Otto. 

Sept. 11 - Community relations were conducted at Burlington Schools on School Avenue in Burlington.

Sept. 12 - 12:26 a.m.: BHCSO assisted Basin Police Department on C Street in Basin. 

9:28 a.m.: A fire alarm at Antelope Butte Ski Lodge on Forest Service Road 830 in Shell resulted in a cancelled unit. 

3:39 p.m.: Community relations were conducted at Burlington Schools on School Avenue in Burlington. 

10 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Greybull Police Department on South Sixth Street in Greybull. 

10:02 p.m.: A residential burglary alarm was triggered on Highway 14 in Shell. 

Sept. 13 - 12:06 a.m.: BHCSO assisted Greybull PD with a fight on North Eighth Street in Greybull.

Francisco Juarez Garcia of Powell was arrested in Cody on Tuesday, Sept. 8 due to a bond revocation by his bonding agency, bailed after one day.
