• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

Aug. 31 - 9:44 a.m.: The reporting party alleged that a man with a black suit case previously seen in town may be staying in a cornfield on Golf Course Road in Basin, officers were unable to locate. 

2:24 p.m.: A traffic complaint was made on a Dodge not maintaining its lane of travel on Highway 20 South in Greybull. 

3:42 p.m.: A caller reported a plume of smoke on Lane 33 in Greybull, they were informed it was a controlled burn. 

Sept. 1 - 1:37 p.m.: A traffic complaint was made on a vehicle allegedly swerving all over the road on Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

2:47 p.m.: Department of Family Services requested information from Basin Police Department on South Third Street in Basin. 

Sept. 2 - 10:51 a.m.: A citizen complaint was taken at Family Dollar on North Sixth Street in Greybull after a blue car reportedly sped by a pedestrian crossing the street and cursed at them.

11:55 a.m.: A civil standby was initiated on Lane 32.5 in Shell. 

3:19 p.m.: Livestock abuse was reported on Lane 39 in Otto, the horse’s owner reported it had medical issues that were being attended to.  

Sept. 3 - 8:26 a.m.: Livestock was reported out on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

Sept. 4 - 3:04 p.m.: Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office assisted another agency on Orchard Bench Road in Basin where cattails reportedly caught fire, resulting in a 1-acre burn. 

9:06 p.m.: An statewide attempt to locate a white square body Tahoe with front-end damage that fled a hit-and-run in Thermopolis called in to Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

Sept. 5 - 7:42 a.m.: A traffic complaint was made on a green van on Highway 20 South in Basin that reportedly was not maintaining its speed or lane. 

9:07 a.m.: A broken down PT Cruiser on Road 26 in Greybull was called in by its owner. 

7:45 p.m.: A car vs. deer accident was reported at Three Rivers Health on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

8:43 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Manderson Fire Department with a radio reset at Highway 20 South and Highway 433 in Manderson. 

11:35 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Basin PD on North Fourth Street in Basin regarding an issue between a father and son. 

Sept. 6 - 11:47 a.m.: Information was taken at BHCSO on Murphy Street in Basin; a frequent caller was excited to report they were at a concert in Colorado. 

2:06 p.m.: Shots fired were reported on Lane 35 in Greybull, found to be a gun club practicing on the next property over. 

3:15 p.m.: An accidental injury was reported on Forest Service Road 14 in Big Horn County. EMS worked with Sheridan County to help a person involved in a side-by-side accident that resulted in a broken collarbone and head lacerations.
