• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

August 17 — An officer assisted the Greybull Police Department at South Sixth Street and Fourth Avenue South.

August 18 —An officer initiated activity on North Seventh Street regarding an ordinance violation.

August 19 —An officer assisted another agency regarding a report of shots fired at North Sherman Avenue and Fifth Street. At least one gunshot was reportedly heard from a nearby residence where frequent fighting was also reported.

August 20 — A scam incident was reported on North Seventh Street.

An officer assisted another agency at Cottonwood Cottages on C Street.

August 21 — A scam incident was reported at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street. The reporting party requested to speak with an officer regarding scam attempts they had been receiving.

A domestic animal incident was reported at Washington Park on C Street after children reported finding a dog.

An officer assisted another agency at Dollar General on Greybull Avenue regarding a possible assault.

An officer assisted another agency at the Greybull Apartments office on North Second Street.

August 22 — A R.E.D.D.I. report occurred at Mile Post 195 on U.S. Highway 16/20 South.

August 23 — An officer initiated Community Relations at Riverside Middle/High School on West B Street.

A citizen complaint occurred at the Big Horn County Fairgrounds on Holdrege Avenue.

• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

August 17 - 12:07 a.m.: Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office assisted Greybull Police Department at Three Rivers Health on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

6:56 a.m.: Sheep were reported out at Highway 310 and Highway 20 in Greybull. 

4:59 p.m.: Community relations were conducted at Greybull High School on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

10:37 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Greybull Police Department at South Sixth Street and Fourth Avenue South in Greybull. 

August 18 - 8:29 a.m.: Livestock were reported out on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

9:09 a.m.: Livestock were reported out on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

10:48 a.m.: BHCSO assisted Department of Family Services on Rimrock Road in Greybull, responding officer was unable to make contact. 

3:31 p.m.: An accident occurred where the trailer fell off a pickup on Highway 14 in Greybull. 

4:26 p.m.: A field was reported on fire on Highway 14/16/20 in Emblem, the rain out it out before responders arrived, resulting in a cancelled unit. 

9 p.m.: A civil issue concerning a potentially aggressive dog was reported on Highway 14 in Shell. 

August 19 - 7:30 a.m.: BHCSO assisted a parent with questions about their child’s phone usage on Highway 20 in Greybull. 

5:27 p.m.: A wildlife encounter with a bear was reported on Greybull River Road in Greybull, BHCSO referred to Game and Fish. 

7:23 p.m.: The fairgrounds sprinklers were reported watering the road on Holdrege Avenue in Basin. 

9:26 p.m.: Shots fired were reported at North Sherman Avenue and Fifth Street in Manderson, found to be fireworks.

August 20 - 8:20 a.m.: “Many sheep out all over the highway” were reported at Highway 310 and Highway 20 in Greybull. 

10:16 a.m.: The coroner’s radio alarm was activated at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin, found to be a false alarm. 

12:10 p.m.: Sheep were reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

August 21 - 11:02 a.m.: A civil standby was requested on Lane 45 in Basin where one party wanted the other trespassed. 

5:17 p.m.: BHCSO and Greybull PD assisted Wyoming Highway Patrol with a suspicious vehicle at Maverik Country Store Inc. on North Sixth Street in Greybull, the vehicle was followed out of town with no cause to stop. 

8:41 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Greybull PD with a possible assault at Greybull Apartments on North Second Street in Greybull. 

August 22 - 7:13 a.m.: BHCSO assisted the general public with questions about a disagreement on Highway 14 in Shell. 

7:59 a.m.: Black cows were reported out at Highway 30 and Road 10 in Burlington. 

3:09 p.m.: A R.E.D.D.I. report was made on Highway 20 South, found to be a single vehicle crash caused by a medical issue. BHCSO, Basin Police Department and WHP responded, EMS transported one injured party to the hospital, WHP is investigating the crash.  

3:54 p.m.: Found property -- a plastic bag with “things” inside it found in the hills past the bridge in Basin -- was turned into BHCSO on Murphy Street in Basin.

5:25 p.m.: Community relations were conducted at Greybull City Park on South Second Street in Greybull. 

August 23 - 3:04 a.m.: BHCSO made field contact on Antelope Street in Basin, suspecting impairment. A female driver checked OK.

Aywan Anwaya, Clinton Township, MI, veh exceeded superintendent’s speed zone (6+ mph over), $150
