• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

May 18 —A lost/found property incident was reported at Basin Market on Fourth Street. The information was taken.

May 19 — A livestock incident involving sheep being out was reported at Mile Post 1 on Wyoming Highway 30.

A livestock incident involving a found lamb was reported at South Ninth Street and Big Horn Avenue. 

May 20 — A lost/found domestic animal incident was reported on Myrtle Avenue. A message was relayed for B1 and information was provided to the public.

An officer assisted a member of the general public at the Basin Police Department on South Third Street. The individual wanted to notify the Police Department that he is on vacation in Georgia and enjoying his time there.

May 21 — A citizen complaint regarding an aggressive person was reported on South Fourth Street. 

An officer initiated community relations activity at the Big Horn County Fairgrounds on Holdrege Avenue.

An officer assisted another agency regarding a domestic disturbance involving threats on Lane 45.

An officer assisted the county on Lane 45.

A property damage incident involving a vehicle versus deer was reported at the Basin Police Department on South Third Street. 

A domestic dispute incident occurred on Lane 45.

An officer initiated activity on Lane 45 to assist the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office (BHCSO) regarding a dispute between husband and wife.

May 22 — An officer assisted a member of the general public at the BHCSO on Murphy Street.

Suspicious circumstances were reported at the BHCSO on Murphy Street.

May 23 — A scam was reported to the Basin Police Department on South Third Street. The reporting party called and requested to speak with B2, and the information was taken.

May 24 — A property damage incident was reported on U.S. Highway 16/20 South.

An accident involving a one-vehicle rollover was reported at U.S. 16/20 and Lane 37. Injuries were unknown at the time of the report.

A disturbance incident was reported on South Fourth Street involving a 15-year-old male who was screaming, yelling, and refusing to listen to his parents. 

A civil matter was reported on North Seventh Street. The reporting party advised of an issue regarding her vehicle and requested to speak with a Basin officer about getting it back. Information was taken.

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

May 18 - 1:47 p.m.: A traffic complaint was taken on Highway 20 South in Manderson.

1:59 p.m.: An officer assisted a motorist on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

4:48 p.m.: Sheep were reported loose on Highway 20 South. 

5:21 p.m.: A criminal trespass order was issued at Search and Rescue South on South Fifth Street in Basin. 

5:45 p.m.: Community relations were conducted at Burlington Schools graduation on School Avenue in Burlington. 

5:56 p.m.: Community relations on South Sixth Street in Basin. 

6:05 p.m.: A residential burglary alarm that sounded three times on Lane 35 in Emblem was cleared. 

May 19 - 6:09 a.m.: A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported on Highway 14 in Shell. 

9:27 a.m.: An officer assisted a motorist at Highway 310 and Highway 20 in Greybull. 

1:03 p.m.: A Verizon test call was conducted at Road 9 and Lane 38 in Burlington. 

1:44 p.m.: A hazmat spill at North Seventh Street and First Avenue North in Greybull was reported. Fuel was reported found by Burlington Northern Santa Fe and cleaned at the intersection. 

3:39 p.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop on North Fourth Street in Basin. 

4:19 p.m.: A R.E.D.D.I. Report was made on Road 43.5 in Big Horn County. 

May 20 - 9:26 a.m.: Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office assisted Department of Family Services on Murphy Street in Basin. 

3:49 p.m.: An officer assisted a citizen at North Fourth Street in Greybull. 

May 21 -5:33 p.m.: An open gate to cattle and sheep fence was reported on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

6:06 p.m.: A lamb was reported out on Highway 20 South in Basin, officers were unable to locate.

7:26 p.m.: A utility issue was reported on North Sixth Street in Basin. 

7:44 p.m.: A domestic disturbance was reported on Lane 45 in Basin. 

10:02 p.m.: A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported at Basin Police Department on South Third Street in Basin. 

10:22 p.m.: A domestic dispute was reported on Lane 45 in Basin. 

May 22 - 9:51 a.m.: A traffic complaint was taken on Elm Avenue in Burlington. 

4:21 p.m.: A white and brown goat with a purple collar reported loose on Highway 14 in Greybull. 

May 23 - 2:49 p.m.: A cow was reported out at Highway 14/16/20 and Highway 310 in Greybull. 

3:02 p.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop at Highway 20 South and Highway 433 in Manderson. 

3:34 p.m.: Assistance was requested for a vehicle stuck on Forest Service Road 277 in Big Horn County.

11:10 p.m.:  A car vs. deer accident was reported on Highway 14 in Shell. 

May 24 - 3 a.m.: Livestock was reported out on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

10:22 a.m.: A turkey reportedly shattered a windshield at Highway 30 and Greybull River Road in Basin. 

3:49 p.m.: A one vehicle rollover was reported at Highway 20 and Lane 37 in Greybull, two occupants refused EMS transport, no injuries were reported. 

4:37 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Basin Police Department on South Fourth Street in Basin. 

6:39 p.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop on Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

9:12 p.m.: A suspicious vehicle checked okay at the Greybull Rest Area on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

ARRESTS

James Alek Higgs was arrested on Monday, May 25 in Greybull on three misdemeanor charges: driving while under the influence, speeding in a 30 mph zone and open container, to serve one day.
