Turkey drive for Thanksgiving baskets planned

The Basin Area Food Pantry and First Baptist Church are collecting turkeys on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

The turkeys along with food baskets will be given away to families experiencing food insecurity Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Bring the turkeys to the back door of the Basin Area Chamber of Commerce between 4 and 6:30 p.m.

Hams for Christmas baskets will be collected in December, although they may be dropped off at the same time as the turkey collection.

If you would like to “adopt” a food basket to help provide a Thanksgiving meal, you may do so. There are empty bags at Security State Bank and Healing Touch Massage and Wellness.

Inside the bag is a list of items needed to provide a meal for a family of four. Return the full bag to the bank or the Basin Chamber by Nov. 20.

Thanksgiving baskets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no list.
