Town looks to track down vandals

At the Oct. 9 Basin Town Council meeting the council, mayor and public learned more about vandalism throughout the town. At one of the September council meetings, they learned of two of incidences from Town Foreman Tony Harrison.

The council went into an executive session under the potential litigation clause to discuss the vandalism in depth. Prior to the session, Mayor CJ Duncan urged the public to be vigilant and to share any info they might have with the town.

Basin PD Chief Kyle McClure’s official statement is as follows:

“The Town of Basin has recently had some vandalism occur to municipal property. The area in and around the boat dock was vandalized by someone with a sledgehammer, causing some damage to picnic tables, fencing and the bathrooms. The Town also reported that someone had tampered with an electrical meter causing significant damage. We would like to see the person or persons responsible come forward and make things right. Vandalism like this causes the Town to spend money on repairs. This is your tax money, and it should upset you as much as it does us. If you know anything about these damages, we ask that you report it to the police department. You can remain anonymous. If you are the person that caused the damage, do the right thing and come forward.”
