Sheriff’s office warns of increasing online scams
Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office has advised the public to watch for online scams. Recently, a scam occurred via Facebook, where a user was asked to donate for a friend’s cancer treatment. The profile requesting payment, which presented as someone the victim knew, was fraudulent.
In the event that money is mistakenly transferred, BHCSO recommended that victims first contact their bank or money service to expediate any potential cancellations that need to occur. After that, scams can be reported to BHCSO at 307-568-2324.
