Riverside thinclads claim eight wins

Ty Strohschein, Vinaya VanderPloeg, Kennedy Bassett, Johnna Clifford and Varissa Olsen won individual events to pace the Riverside Rebels at Thursday’s Burlington Invitational.
Strohschein won the 100 and the 200, ran a leg of the winning 400-meter relay team where he was joined by Gavyn Cervantes, Avery Clifford and Yua Oka, and placed third in the shot.
The Riverside boys placed third with 68 points.
VanderPloeg won the 100 and placed second in the 200 and the 400.
Bassett won the 100-meter hurdles, Clifford took the long jump and Olsen prevailed in the discus.  The three standouts also teamed with Dakota Cervantes to win the 1,600-meter relay.
Those five wins powered the Lady Rebels to a fifth-place finish.
Top honors at the five-teamer went to the Thermopolis boys and the Burlington girls.
