Riverside Rebels crush Hulett and Bridger, fall short against Greybull

The Riverside Lady Rebels faced three non-conference opponents this past week.  They played Greybull on Thursday, Hulett in Ten Sleep on Friday, and Bridger, Mont., on their home court on Saturday.  Of all the games this week, they knew that Greybull would be the toughest of the three.  “We were down by two at the end of the first quarter, and the second quarter didn’t go well offensively for us, only scoring four points and put us down at half,” commented Coach Hamilton.  “We had a run in the fourth quarter and we were within seven and had a chance to score and cut the lead to five, but the ball didn’t fall, and Greybull finished out the game for the win.”

The following evening was a special one for Riverside’s two Ten Sleep girls, Belle Starbuck and Cachelynn Forshee.  The Rebels played Hulett in Ten Sleep on Friday, and it was a chance for the two to play in front of their home crowd.  The Rebels came out strong in the first, leading 19-4, and went on to a 52-29 victory.

On Saturday, the girls finished out the trio of games on their home court against Bridger with a 51-35 victory.  Coach Hamilton remarked, “We were a little flat in the first half, going in up 15-12.  After a few halftime adjustments, we came out with a little more energy, scoring 36 points in the second half for the win.  The highlight of the game was two of our freshman players, Hadley Hopkin with seven points and Mari Pratt’s 10 points, which she scored late in the third quarter and the fourth quarter.  Both players came in when we were in foul trouble to help us.  It’s always great to have our younger girls step up in this situation, and it will be important for us going forward.”

The Riverside Lady Rebels will play in Meeteetse on Thursday at 5:30, and Senior Night is Friday at 5:30 against Dubois.
