The Riverside Lady Rebels performed well at the State 1A Basketball Championships this past weekend in Casper, bringing home fourth place.

The girls played the Lady Upton Bobcats Thursday in the Ford Wyoming Center.  The Rebels led by one after the first and trailed by three at the half before putting up 20 points in the third and 12 more in the fourth to win 55-49.

The win sent the Rebels to the semifinals for the first time in 29 years.

The next game Riverside played was against the Cokeville Panthers.  The Rebels were down only one point per quarter for three out of the four quarters.  In the end they lost by eight, 39-31.

Their third and final game brought them to Natrona County High School, playing against the Burlington Lady Huskies.  The first and second quarters were close, with the Rebels down by one after one and by two at half. The Huskies pulled away in the third and the Rebels were unable to recover, losing 50-37.

Coach Mitchell commented, “I was so proud of the growth the girls showed over the course of this season. Wins over Little Snake and Upton in the last two weekends allowed them to see tangible results from their efforts over the last several months.  A fourth-place finish at state is an accomplishment that the girls should be extremely proud of.”
