Rebels Thinclads continue to excel
The track team traveled to Rocky Mountain High School in Cowley Saturday, April 25th.
Coach Toby Wood remarked that “despite a challenging week of practice with cold temperatures and strong winds, the athletes continued to show up, work hard, and improve.”
With prom being on the same day as the meet, the team adjusted lineups and events, including putting together different relay combinations, but still delivered a strong performance across both the girls and boys teams.
The girls 4x100m relay team (Danika Brauer, Annabelle Brown, Melanie Perez-Cabrera, and
Mari Pratt) had an outstanding day, finishing 2nd (58.36), while the sprint medley relay team
(Perez-Cabrera, Brown, Evalynn Olsen, and Pratt) added a 4th place finish (5:04:18).
Hannah Suiter led the individual performances with a 6th place finish in the 800 meters
(2:44:54) and an 8th place finish in the high jump (4-3). In the field events, Varissa Olsen placed 6th in discus (99-8.5), continuing her consistent performances this season.
Cade Bell had another great meet, placing 2nd in the shot put with an outdoor personal best
(49-0) and 7th in the discus (124-10.5). Paul Stone earned a 3rd place finish in the triple jump (38-10.5), while Xander Dannar added an 8th place finish in the triple jump (34-4). In distance events, Ariel Cordova placed 7th in the 3200 meters (13:32:21).
“Overall the team performed well given the circumstances, with athletes continuing to improve and gain valuable experience. We (coaches) are proud of the effort and progress being made and are excited to see that hard work continue to pay off as the season moves forward,” reiterated Coaches Wood and Winters.
The Rebels track team will be back in action in Lovell on Saturday, May 1st.
