Rebels back on the road this weekend

With the Farson trip behind them, the Riverside Rebels will head to Encampment later this week for the second leg of a grueling three-week road trip to open the season.
By the time they arrive home after a Sept. 14 roadie to Hulett, they’ll have logged more than 1,500 highway miles with playing a single contest on their home field.
Welcome to six-man football in Wyoming.
Coach Jason Mitchell could not be reached this week for comment on his team’s performance in Farson. It was considered a Week 0 jamboree and, as a result, teams did not keep score or track stats.
The Rebels are transitioning this season from a successful nine-man program that reached the playoffs last season to the six-man classification.
They’re in the North, along with Burlington, Hulett, Kaycee, Meeteetse, Midwest and Ten Sleep, but their first game is against a team from the South in Encampment.
The Tigers went 8-2 last year, losing in the semifinals to eventual-champion Burlington.
Friday’s game kicks off at 4 p.m.
The Rebels play their first home game Friday, Sept. 20 against Little Snake River.
