Qualified write-ins in Manderson, Greybull and House District 26

The primary race last week produced write-ins for the general election in November. 

In Manderson, Bill Duncan was on the ballot for mayor and he received 18 votes. Five write-in votes were cast, with four going to Rod Patrick. He was notified and will appear on the general election ballot if he accepts the nomination. 

Manderson had three open council seats, but no one filed for the primary, leading to a number of write-in qualifiers.  For the two open four-year terms, 30 write in votes were counted.  Thea Saunders. Rod Patrick and Howard Applegarth each received six votes. Chris Saunders and Troy Chambers each received five votes. No other write-ins received enough votes to qualify.  The nominees will be contacted in the order of votes received; four will appear on the ballot if they accept the nomination. 

For the open two-year council seat there were 16 write-ins. Jack Neilson received six votes, Aleta Driver received five votes. Should they accept the nomination, they will both be on the general election ballot. 

In Greybull, Bill Brenner received 23 write-in votes for mayor. He has given the clerk’s office a verbal acceptance of the nomination; he will also have to provide written acceptance. He would face Michael Johnston, who ran unopposed in the primary. 

Ralph Nieder-Westermann of Greybull received 28 votes on Democratic ballots for House District 26. Since this is a state office, the state will be responsible to canvas the vote. The canvasing is scheduled for August 28. Should he accept the nomination, he would join Rep Dalton Banks on the ballot in November.
