Prairie to Pantry webinar highlights Wyoming native plants for food

Prairie to Pantry: Wyoming Plants for Food & Habitat, a statewide educational webinar hosted by the Wyoming Food Coalition in collaboration with the Washakie County Conservation District, will bring together practitioners from across Wyoming to explore how native plants can support both people and ecosystems.

Inspired by Washakie County’s “FULL: Hearts. Bellies. Pantries.” collaborative—an initiative focused on increasing food production, procurement, preparation and preservation—this virtual event will showcase practical strategies for integrating native and wild plants into community food systems. Participants will learn about foraging, traditional plant uses, edible habitat design, and cooking with wild plants, while discovering how biodiversity can strengthen both local food access and wildlife habitat.

The Prairie to Pantry two-day series connects growers, educators, conservationists, and community leaders from across the state to share knowledge and highlight locally relevant solutions. By centering Wyoming-adapted plants and regional expertise, the webinar aims to support resilient landscapes and healthier communities.

The event is open to the public and intended for gardeners, landowners, educators, conservation professionals, and anyone interested in native plants, food systems, and habitat stewardship.

The webinar is free and open to the public. While there is no cost to attend, voluntary contributions are encouraged to support the Wyoming Food Coalition’s work strengthening local and regional food systems across the state.
