Postseason Wrestling Awards
A handful of competitors for the Greybull-Riverside High School wrestling team have earned postseason awards for their athleticism this past season.
Named to the all-state team: Loomis Alexander, Caiden Sorenson, Zack Kuntz, Bennett Sanford and Ellie Holloway. To become all-state or all-conference in wrestling athletes must place in the top two of their weight class at the appropriate tournament.
For all-conference: Alexander, Kuntz, Sanford and Holloway.
“Loomis beyond all state and all conference received the team captain and hammer award. He was for the past two years a hammer on the mat and a wealth of knowledge for the room,” said head coach Mark Sanford.
“Caiden also received a team captain award along with Bennett. They really brought a leadership, along with Ellie who received a team captain award, that we haven’t had in a while. They helped bring us together as a team and how important it was for each wrestler to feel a part of the program and to be held accountable,” he added.
“Zach received a tough as nails award. He proved time and time again a toughness that pushed him over the top in many of his matches against tough opponents,” Sanford said.
