Plan underway for homes near temple
CODY — A new subdivision could be coming to an area bordering the temple being built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints off Skyline Drive.
A preliminary plat review concluded in unanimous recommendation for approval by the Cody Planning and Zoning Board during its meeting last Thursday. The plat for the Temple View Subdivision, submitted by the Erica Ashley Nielson Trust, contains plans for three single-family houses.
The plans also include a request for a variance to the mandatory 25 foot setback for R1 zoning areas. Due to the narrow depth of the lots, a variance to allow a 15 foot setback was requested and subsequently approved as part of the board’s recommendation.
The next step for the project will be a final plat review, which entails a public hearing before the P&Z board. It has not been scheduled
The board’s recommendation for approval comes after a series of meetings that occurred over several months, which concluded in changing the area’s zoning from rural residential and medium-low density residential to a homogenous single family residential area.
