June 18, 1925
Basin played the Gebo Miners’ Ball Club last Sunday at Gebo. The day was nice and warm with “Old Sol” beaming on a newly dampened field that made fielding difficult. Gebo walloped the Basin boys 16-6, with Basin losing for the first time in four weeks.
Tuesday evening, the members of the Baptist church gave a surprise pound party for the new minister and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Beck. When they arrived at the parsonage, the minister had gone to Greybull to attend a prayer meeting. After calling on the phone and making it appear as though someone wished to be married, they persuaded Mr. and Mrs. Beck to return, when they finally got home, they were much surprised to see the large number of members awaiting them.

June 15, 1950
Accommodations for feeding and housing an estimated 150 men are being sought in Basin this week by the Basin club. The organization acted at the request of Mayor E.W. Kinghorn when it was learned that approximately 150 men employed in construction of an oil pipeline from Baker, Mont., to Worland will be located in the Basin area for about six weeks this summer.
Remodeling and redecoration of the Atwood mortuary in Basin got under way this week. J.C. Atwood said Wednesday that the entire front of the building will be changed. Wire-cut brick will be used to face the structure and new large picture windows installed. The building’s new main entrance will follow the style of a French archway.
Bruce Kennedy, son of Gilbert V. Kennedy, is spending his spare time in the Republican-Rustler this summer. A journalism student at the University of Nebraska, Bruce is learning the finer points of the graphic arts industry here.

June 19, 1975
The Board of School District Four has employed Ann Shelledy of Greybull as English Teacher and part time Girls Athletic coach. She replaces Gordon Lee, who has resigned.
Mrs. G.A. Brown and daughter Charlotte drove to Lyman, Wyoming Friday where Charlotte was interviewed and given a contract to teach fourth grade there beginning in September.
Lynelle Galasso has been installed as the new honored queen of Job’s Daughters, other officers include Kristi Johnson, Shelley Gish, Leticia Williamson, Andrea Williamson, Becky Kost, Darla Ingalls, Fawn Helling, Jodi Johnson, Dana Stoelk, Denise Beck, Troy Estes. Debbi Davis, Patti Williamson, Linda Cowan, and Kay Scoggins.

Unwelcome visitors in the form of two young rattlesnakes were dispatched by residents on the west side of Basin last week. Joel Lee killed an 18-inch snake after spotting it near the driveway of his home on Willow Drive. At Tim Graham’s residence, a snake of about the same size made itself known when someone stepped over it.
Area students named to the Dean’s and Freshman Honor Rolls are: Kimberlee Baxter, Jeri Claudson, Rebekah Crossley, Heidi Griffith, Melisa Griggith, Justin Hopkin, Lance Hopkin, Sara Kampbell, Kelli Pederson, Juli Schatz, Paul Pearce and Sarah Talbot all of Basin. Sarah Davidson, Karah Winters and Kason Winters were the Burlington students named.
