February 19, 1925
Ranger Fred R. Thomas of the Greybull district of this forest has recently returned from a trip in the high country. He reported from 10-12 inches of snow on the level at the head of the Greybull. In most places, the snow is drifted, and there is less snow on the head waters of the Greybull and Wood rivers than for many years. Probably not more than one-half the average for this time of year.
A number of progressive farmers attended a meeting of the Heinz people to sign up for cucumber contracts. The farmers are as follows: Chas. Vonburg, Josh Ellis, W.B. Spencer, C.R. Spencer,

Mayor E.W. Kinghorn, Gilbert V. Kennedy and Mrs. R.W. Russell were named to serve as judges in the Americanism essay contest being conducted by Marion Tanner unit No. 29 of the American Legion Auxiliary.
At a recent Big Horn County 4-H leaders Council meeting, John Snyder was selected as the 4-H leader whose story and picture will appear in the state history book and Thelma Snyder, who won a state award in swine production, addressed the group.
A very painful and “shocking” accident was suffered by Merrill, Elden and Grant Sanders on Sunday, when they were flying a kite near the powerline. The kite string was a ball of Christmas cord. The string was just ordinary cotton twine with a small metallic thread through it. The boys were bringing the kite in and as it touched the line, the boys were knocked down. Their hands were painfully burned.

Fire early last Wednesday evening destroyed a garage and its contents at the Wayne Stanley home immediately south of the fairgrounds road.
The Basin Search and Rescue group Monday snagged two cross-country skiers from what witnesses at the scene described as certain death when they mobilized snowmobiles and an airplane to find the two lost men. The group, made up of Bob Michaels, Leonard Cowan, Bill Cowan, Scoty Hinman, Jim Raffl, and Abe Hallcroft, all on snowmobiles, were aided by Jack Clucas of Shell, flying observer in a light search aircraft. The two men, Tommy Lindsey of Greybull and Bob Evans, a student now living in Powell, had set out from the Granite Pass to Hudson Falls Sunday morning at about 11.

Nathan Boyd of Basin received his B.S. degree in Agribusiness at the completion of the 1999 fall semester at the University of Wyoming. A 1995 graduate of Riverside High School, Nathan is the son of Kathy and Ron Boyd.
Sarah Bayert has been named to the 1999 fall semester President’s honor roll at NWC in Powell.
