Traffic across the Big Horn at Manderson was halted Monday when Jas. A. Quiner attempted to move a house that was wider than the bridge across the river. Lee Morris’s tractor was doing the pulling, but, while it is a “good ole puller,” it seemed wiser to let things rest for a time. A saw was obtained and some of the rafters were cut, then the building proceeded on its way and traffic resumed.

A rule change proposed earlier this fall by the Office of Health Quality was signed into law over the weekend by Gov. Jim Geringer, clearing the way for the South Big Horn County Hospital District board to move ahead with its long-term plans of reopening the hospital and establishing a 24-hour emergency room. Prior to the rule change, board efforts to move forward had been snagged on a health department inspector’s opinion, which indicated that the entire facility’s ventilation system would have to be upgraded. That opinion became moot with the approval of the rule change.
