The report has come to us that President Crane of the University of Wyoming made the statement that Francis Winters, one of our debaters was, in his opinion, the best individual debater who contested in Laramie during the last High School Week. We are glad to know that President Crane shares in the high regard in which we hold Francis and also his teammate Elizabeth Wilson.
Mr. J.H. Montgomery drove in from the ranch on Tuesday evening and announced that his men and teams were out in the fields, this time on the 22nd of March, which is not such a bad start after such conditions as existed a week ago. And now let us hope for such conditions as will make the coming season one of the best in the history of the Big Horn Basin.

March 22, 1951
Mrs. Garland G. Smith Monday assumed her duties as nurse for School District No. 17. Mrs. Smith will serve the district on a part-time basis according to arrangements completed earlier this month by the school’s board of trustees.
William Buford Schlenker, 32 of Burlington was killed shortly after noon Monday when a cave-in occurred while he was digging a water well on his farm. Charles Dooley and Ben Coble, who were working with the victim at the time, succeeded in extricating Schlenker from the well.
Large yard lights are seen going every night lately around the Otto neighborhood. The Lambing shed lights are on at the John Bullinger sheds, A.G. Harman and Johnnie Sparks ranches and at the Yorgason Brothers corral here.

March 25, 1976
A two-story house containing three bedrooms was moved Monday morning from the Earl Cross place on Orchard Bench to a prepared foundation at Big Horn and Sixth streets in Basin. The house, when completed in its new location, will become the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Morris.
Coach Lin Doyle’s Manderson Hyattville girls basketball team ended its regular season with eight wins and eight losses for a 50% average. Members of the team who made the trip to the regional tournament at Byron or who played during the regular season include Kay Rubis, Linda Kimble, Vergie Coronado, Darla Lotspiech, Pam Tharp, Sandy Coronado, Teresa Redland, Brenna Dauterman and Georgia Sova.
The upper floor of the Rustler Liquor Store building sustained damage at the hands of vandals during the weekend. Windows on the second floor of the building were smashed and buckets of paint stored there were broken open and paint smeared about.

Eight new members were inducted into the Riverside High School chapter of the National Honor Society last week. Inducted into the society were Anna Bayert, Lisa Dunlap, Lisa Frame, Valli Gamble, Tara Jones, Ashley LaBudda, Alex Nauman and Lindsey Williamson. All of the new inductees are juniors.
Basin Accountant Richard Russell last month passed the ethics exam administered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Russell previously passed his uniform CPA exam. The ethics exam is a requirement in order for Russell to apply for a CPA permit and certificate.
