Disposable Diapers have cost the town of Basin $603 it was learned late last week. Foreman Maurice Chapman and some of his men from the town crew spent most of Tuesday last week trying to clear a section of sewer. The blockage had caused flooding in the basements of the Harold Darr and Gilbert V. Kennedy homes. The trouble was discovered to be supposedly disposable diapers that had become wedged in the sewer and completely blocked the section serving the residents in the area where the basements were flooded. By the time the trouble was discovered, 400 feet of the town’s rodding equipment had been destroyed. The cost of replacement according to the town office, is $603.
