The report cards were distributed Wednesday. The following students deserve special commendation: seniors: Francis Winters, Mae Dilts, Frances Sargent, Alice Hoover and Dean Enders; juniors: Mrytle Kaster, Richard Lungren, Virginia Skovgard, Robert Watkins and William Jessen; sophomores: Josephine Harris, Frances Gould, Donald Spencer, Maurine Nelson, Wilma McLaughlin, Leona Winters and Margarite Saban; freshmen: Evelyn Fields, Doris Galusha, Ruth Renner, Marion Johnsen and Ellsworth Christiansen.
The Cooper Motor Co. has just received a shipment of cars by which it places on its floor all of the various types of Ford products including coupe, sedan runabout with pick-up body, roadster and trucks.

January 18, 1951
“No illegal gambling devices will be tolerated anywhere in Big Horn County,” Big Horn County Attorney Wilbur O. Henderson revealed Friday. Henderson stated that under the law even the existence of such machines (he referred particularly to slot machines) is illegal and that the devices will be confiscated and destroyed if found, regardless of whether they are in actual operation. Violations of gambling laws hereafter committed in Big Horn County will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
The Wigwam Theatre will be closed following the last show scheduled Saturday evening. Management officials in Casper advised the Republican-Rustler that they were “disappointed” in the amount to which the theatre had been patronized by Basin residents during its brief re-opening. They stated that continued operation was not compatible with the financial losses incurred by the operation.

January 22, 1976
The Big Horn Café closed its doors at the end of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ned G. Lieuallen discontinued operation of the restaurant when their lease on the property expired. They had operated the establishment for the past year.
A number of students from this area were among the 830 University of Wyoming students named to the academic dean’s or freshman honor rolls in recognition of superior academic achievement during the fall semester of 1975. Qualifying students on the dean’s roll from this area includes James Lewis Breining, Robert Alan Hill and Bruce Gould Russell, all of Basin; Dave Grabbert of Emblem and Linda Y. Hamilton of Hyattville. Those qualifying for the freshman honor roll were Kalvin K Kugler and Catherine Ann Zaring both of Basin.

Bob and Ethel Akin of Basin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a two-day family outing held at the Hideout in Shell December 22-23. Attending were Akin’s three daughters, Patti Thiel of Laurel, Mont., Joni and Charlie Bender of Billings, Mont., and Juli and Dode Harrison of Basin; their son, Larry and Maurine Akin of Powell; 15 of their grandchildren and four of their great-grandchildren.
The Wyoming All-State High School Marching Band is one of the bands marching in the presidential inaugural parade Saturday. For Riverside High School students Betsy Crosby, LeAnna Stanley, Kyle Tate, Alex Nauman and Lindsey Williamson, it is a “once in a lifetime thing.”
