November 12, 1925
A fire that broke out yesterday morning shortly after 7 o’clock destroyed the home of Uncle Dan Galloway, located in the Cook addition. Uncle Dan said he got up yesterday morning as usual and started his fire with kerosene. He went out into the yard and was gone but a short time. When he returned, the whole interior of the kitchen was ablaze. He says he has no idea of how the fire started. All that he was able to save from the place was his fur coat.
The damage done last week by the collapsing of the roof of the Thompson Lumber Company’s immense shed is rapidly being repaired. The roof will be completed before the end of the week.

November 9, 1950
Seventy-five parents visited the grade school during open house Wednesday at which all classrooms were open to visitors during actual class procedure. Superintendent Robert Kilzer expressed gratification at the manner in which parents are taking an active interest in the public schools.
From Burlington — Jack Loveland entertained at a Halloween party honoring Elnora Trumbull last Monday evening at the Loveland home. Guests were Joan and Gordon Hodson, Kay and Gary Winkler, Cecil Lewis, Gail Gormley, Verjean Michaels, Don A. Schlaf, Nora May and Ruby Lee Wardell, Carl Yorgason, Martin Johnson and Dean Trumbull.
Buddy Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Arnold, suffered painful injuries late Tuesday afternoon at Peters’ corner, seven miles south of Basin on U.S. 20 when struck by an automobile driven by Guy Wilkerson of Greybull. The boy is resting in Basin hospital under a physician’s care.

November 13, 1975
Larry Martin last week received government approval for a 10-unit federally subsidized senior citizens rental complex now under construction at Eighth and C streets. The units are expected to rent for $125 per month with all utilities included.
The Burlington High School honor roll for the first quarter of this year was announced this week. Two seniors, Mark Davidson and Eileen Winters, received a grade of 4.0 or a straight A. Other students on the A honor roll were Carol Davidson, a junior, and Paty Alexander, Lennie Jones and Grace Thomas, sophomores.

The Basin Town Council opened bids on a waterline project at their monthly meeting Monday night. The low bid, by LaMax Construction, was accepted pending an examination of the bids by the town engineer. The project, which is to replace and possibly extend the water line on Seventh Street, attracted seven bids; all were referred to town engineer Sherman Allred for evaluation before the bid is accepted.
The Paintrock FFA agriculture mechanics team, Preston Malson, Bruce Malson, Cole Hartman and Hannah Irvine, was awarded a gold emblem at the national competition at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky., in October.
The first quarter honor roll has been released by Riverside High School. Straight A Honor Roll: junior Valli Gamble, Abby Span, Lisa Dunlap, Anna Baryer, Ashley Labudda, Alex Nauman, Lisa Frame, Chad Schell and Tara Jones; seniors: Liz Kidner, Kelli Skarda, and Kayla Vigil.
