Low Income Energy Assistance Program help days planned in Basin later this month
Two help days for the Low-Income Energy Assistant Program (LIEAP) are scheduled this month at the Big Horn County Library in Basin.
According to the Wyoming Department of Family Services “LIEAP is accepting applications for the 2025-2026 heating season until April 30, 2026. LIEAP helps eligible Wyoming households by paying a portion of their winter home heating costs, assisting with heating emergencies, and improving home energy efficiency. Priority is given to households with seniors aged 60 and over, families with children 5 and under, and individuals with disabilities.”
The application process is online and may be cumbersome for many people, noted help day organizer Danae Bales. She said those wanting help doing the online application “need to bring the following: proof of identification (driver’s license, birth certificate), proof of income for all household members, most recent heating and electric bill and rental verification. If they are on Social Security, only the Cost-of-Living Assessment 2025 that they received in January will be accepted. They will need to bring that down to the library with them.”
The days are October 14 and 21, 10 a.m. – noon.
Those with questions may call Danae Bales at 307-275-0419.
