Letter to the Editor: Thrift shop contributes to community in many ways

Dear editor:

I just wanted to remind everyone of all the ways the Community Outreach thrift store benefits our community.  We offer clothes and household goods at better than retail prices, and give them to people who have lost everything through fires or other misfortunes.  We help transients, people stranded, people going on job interviews and jail releases.  We donate coats to people who can’t afford them.

Seventy kids had stars on our star tree, and thanks to our many donors, they all received Christmas  presents.  Most of the school plays feature costumes that we’ve donated. We maintain a food bank that gives out hundreds of dollars worth of food every week to needy families.

We help people find information on help with utilities and lodging and loan medical equipment to people. We donate every month to two missions in Africa as well.

I would like to thank those who have donated clothes, goods and money.  We couldn’t do it without you. Right now, we are looking for volunteers, especially someone who can commit to one day a week.

Stop in and say hi!
