Letter to the Editor: Meeting Chuck Gray

Dear Editor:

On July 2 I attended a Greybull event held by Chuck Gray, current Wyoming Secretary of State and wannabe U.S. Representative.

I wanted him to explain where he got the arrogance to turn over my personal information to the federal government. The information included the name, address, birth date, driver’s license number and Social Security number of every registered voter in Wyoming – everything needed to access your bank account and credit cards.

He said he had talked to the Attorney General and legally he had to turn the information over. He claimed all but two Republican states had turned over all their voter’s personal information. He was proud to be the first.

When asked why several states had gone to court and in every case the judges determined that the federal government had no right to the voter information, his only answer was, “they were woke liberals.” 

Gray then deflected to emphasize how much voter fraud there is in Wyoming. But could not cite a single specific case. He then said he should be elected because of the danger to Wyoming from transgender people. I said I wasn’t aware of any specific problem in Big Horn County. He couldn’t list any incident in Wyoming. He finally said he said he believed there was a transgender person in Natrona County.

Spewing scare-mongering conspiracies does not make him appear to be the kind of legislator that will buckle down and do the hard work necessary to benefit the people of Wyoming.

Then I got a flyer from Gray with a picture of young female athletes, plus a large, hairy adult male in the same uniform with AI mammary glands.

I’m not sure if Gray believes there is a 40-something man playing on a Wyoming girl’s high school soccer team, or if he thinks this will entice scared and gullible people to vote for him. But it did inspire me to do some follow up.

Sixteen states have turned over non-public voter information and over half of them redacted a portion of the Social Security Number. Thirty states, (including 10 Republican states) have been sued for the information, 17 of those cases have been decided and in EVERY case the judge ruled the federal government was not entitled to the voter information, including several judges appointed by Donald Trump.

So, Gray lied about the number of states turning over voter information and he lied about the law. 

Gray is from California and graduated from Wharton in 2012, moved to Wyoming in 2013 and had a radio program on Daddy’s radio station. He ran for the legislature in 2014 and lost, then won in 2016. He evidently has never had a real job, and Daddy has financed all his political campaigns including $1,670,000 for this campaign.

Suffice to say I won’t be voting for Gray on Aug 18. I’ll have to find some other Republican candidate to vote for.

Do your own research – then get out and VOTE.
