Letter to the Editor: Are ICE or illegal aliens the problem?

Dear editor:

Regarding Steve Helburn’s letter on ICE (published Feb. 5, 2026): All you have to do is read the second paragraph of his letter and you know he’s from the West Coast and follows the Newsom spin.

If you don’t like ICE, change the law. If you are here illegally, then you have broken the law. If I come into your house as an illegal alien, are you expected to put a roof over my head, feed me, pay my medical bills, give me a decent wage, educate my kids? Would I be welcomed or would you want me out of your house?

There are many raped women and gang-related crimes. Is that OK with you? Next question: If you don’t like ICE, why stop there? Why don’t you throw a fit over income taxes and start a fight there? I know you have lost when you say, “peaceful protests.” Have you seen these clowns spit in the face of law enforcement people? Are you OK with these people carrying a gun or driving a 3,000-pound vehicle at ICE agents? Have you seen cars and buildings on fire when they get to protest and you call it peacefully! What kind of Kool-Aid are you drinking? There’s a world of difference between a city cop, highway patrolman and a US marshal. There is different training with ICE.

You are dealing with do-gooders who want to interfere with the law. Biden let 20 million illegal aliens into the U.S. Do you think they all came with good intentions when you hear of all the new gangs in the U.S.? If you want them all to stay, where’s the $2 trillion to $3 trillion to feed and house them? The “coward lawman” “stunt” shows me how out of touch you are with Wyoming values.

Your quote: “If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.”

My quote: “If you were indoctrinated in college by a card-carrying Communist, you will be a liberal Democrat the rest of your life with no common sense.” In conclusion, I read you and you are an immigrant to Wyoming. ICE should have the right to send you back to the West Coast before we get too many of your liberal views in Wyoming.
