A learning week for the Huskies
During week zero in high school football, teams decide if they want to compete in an actual game, a scrimmage or play no game at all.
The Huskies went with a scrimmage with Encampment.
“As with any zero week for us, it was more of a gauge to see where we are at and what we need to do to improve,” said Coach Trent Aagard. “We saw some good things and some things we need to improve on.”
Despite losing 29-8, Aagard saw a lot of positives. “I thought on defense we got better as the game progressed and it was fun watching some kids learn and improve. On offense, we are probably still looking for our identity a little bit, but we will get there. It’s always good to get the first game in the books. You never really know where you are at until you match up with someone else. I’m excited to work on the things we need to and see what we can get done.”
The Huskies will have their first home game Thursday, hosting Little Snake River. Middle school kickoff is at noon, varsity kickoff is at 2 p.m. and JV will play at 4 p.m.
