Lady Huskies win three matches in Ethete
The Lady Huskies competed in the Foothills Classic over the weekend in Ethete. It was a large tournament with more than 10 teams but Burlington only had games scheduled Saturday.
“We tried to take advantage of the sets we did get on Saturday and we had a pretty good weekend overall,” said Coach Erin Bassett.
First up was Shoshoni and the Lady Huskies won both games 25-18, 25-15. They hit a small snag when they played Wyoming Indian next. “We had a little bobble and struggled in the first set with the tempo and dropped the set 17-25. Our girls made a nice adjustment and came back and won the next set 25-4 and third 15-12. It was a different challenge for us, but an important one that we need to master.”
Burlington knocked off one last 2A team when they faced Big Piney in the last game of the day. “They presented a few challenges with a pretty good outside hitter and effective tipping,” said Bassett. The final scores were 25-19 and 25-22.
The Lady Huskies hosted Greybull Tuesday night and will play at the 1A Jamboree in Southeast Friday and Saturday.
