Burlington’s cross country team returned to Buffalo for the first time in five years. “They have a beautiful course at the TA Ranch outside of town and combined with some cool, sunny weather, it made for some great performances,” said Coach Ryan Olson.

Freshmen Kelli McNiven and Kellen Winters both took second overall in their races. “They ran personal best times and improved on their own school records. Bryant Casey and Jackson Olson also ran with some nagging minor injuries but achieved personal best times as well. I was very impressed with Darcy Robertson and Raygen Andrew on the girls side. They both had strong kicks toward the end and continue to improve as the season goes on.”

Burlington Middle School athletes competed Thursday at the golf course in Lovell. “It’s been a while since we’ve had that kind of wind during a meet,” said Olson. “I was proud of how hard our kids ran. Jaxon Buck and Natalie McNiven both received medals for placing in the top 10. Spencer Hamilton has to be our most improved middle school athlete comparing his times to last year. He’s definitely found a new gear this year and it’s great to see how much he’s enjoying the season. Kaleb Christofferson, Kobe Winters and Hailee McNiven are showing great things as some of our younger runners. They work out with our high school team every day and do the same workouts, I think that seeing their example of work ethic and perseverance makes a difference.”

Both Middle and High School will be running at the Berry Bryant/Kyle Johnson Memorial and Spartan meets in Riverton this Thursday.
