Burlington hosted Hulett on Friday, coming into the game with high hopes and expectations. “We knew coming into this game that if Hulett won, they would be in a great position to win the North. They are able to put up some big plays and a lot of points,” said Coach Trent Aagard. “The game was a lot tighter throughout the first half than the end score indicated. I thought that we were able to take advantage of some things that allowed us to pull away.”

Offensively, the Huskies saw points coming from all players with Kole Walker getting four touchdowns, Paul McNiven three, Matt Tempany and Chase Bassett two and Orion Wright, Teddy Ball and Taft Winters adding one and successful PAT kicks from Tempany, Wright and Trigdon Aagard. The Huskies ended the game with 115 rushing yards and 387 passing yards.

“Kole and Asher Loveland both did a good job throwing the ball,” said Aagard. “They were able to find the open guys. A lot of guys were able to catch passes, but I thought Paul, Matt, Taft and Chase caught some timely passes. Kole and Parker did a good job carrying the ball.”

Defensively, every Burlington player earned defensive points. “Taft and Parker brought some good pass rush pressure and Matt, Chase and Kole did some good things from their linebacker positions,” said Aagard.

The game was close in the first half, with halftime score of 57-34 but in the second half, with Burlington commanding the field on both sides, the Huskies won 99-40.

“It was good to see the growth our guys have made over the season so far. We still have work to do, but it’s good to see growth. We were a little hampered by some banged up kids, but guys were able to step up and make enough plays. It was good to see so many guys play and do good things. Hopefully it was a game that we can build on and have some positive momentum going into this week,” said Aagard.

The Huskies play in Meeteetse on Friday with middle school kickoff at 5 p.m. and varsity kickoff at 7 p.m.
