Huskies notch two more conference wins
Burlington brought in two tough conference wins against Meeteetse and St. Stephens. In the previous match with Meeteetse, the Longhorns handed the Huskies a loss, and the Huskies looked forward to the rematch. The game started off slow offensively, with both teams struggling to get anything to fall, ending the first quarter with Burlington up 10-6. Play picked up in the second quarter for both teams, but the Huskies continued to push and outscored the Longhorns in the second half. The game finished with a final score of 56-41.
M. James McNiven led the team with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Kole Walker had 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Bitner Philpott had nine points, four rebounds and four steals.
The Huskies hosted St. Stephens on Saturday, and the Eagles hit the ground running, holding the lead into the second quarter. The game was tight, but Burlington had phenomenal second and third quarters, scoring 27 points in the third to overtake St. Stephens and pull off the win 68-54.
Philpott had a stellar game and led all scorers with 30 points and 13 rebounds. M.J. McNiven had 10 points and nine rebounds, and Paul McNiven added eight points.
The Huskies will head to Dubois on Saturday with a tip-off time of 1:30 p.m.
