The Huskies split their first two conference games of the season against Meeteetse and Dubois at home.

Friday night’s game with the Longhorns was intense. Meeteetse came out hot, outscoring the Huskies 20-8 in the first quarter. The Longhorns held their largest lead over the Huskies, 14 points, multiple times throughout the game, but the Huskies would whittle the lead down, coming within three points in the fourth quarter.

Bitner Philpott came alive in the second half, scoring 18 of his 22 points to keep the Huskies close but the game ended 56-50 in Meeteetse’s favor. Longhorn Max Potas, who’s averaging 27.8 points a game, led all scorers with 25.

Saturday’s game against Dubois, was completely the opposite, with the Huskies dominating from the opening tip. They outscored the Rams 39-8 in the first half and despite a run from Dubois in the third quarter, Burlington maintained the lead and won with a final score of 62-21.

Burlington will compete in the Big Horn Basin Hoops Classic with games on Friday and Saturday in Thermopolis.
