Burlington notched a conference win and a non-conference loss this past week, playing in Greybull and in Basin.

Friday in Greybull, for the annual Pink game, the Huskies struggled to get their shots to fall and the Buffs hit the ground running. Greybull led 20-11 after one. The Huskies kept the game close but Greybull pulled further ahead in the third and it was a 12 point game headed into the final eight minutes of the game.

With three minutes left, the Buffs were still up by nine points but 3’s from Bitner Philpott and Kole Walker brought the Huskies within four points. Burlington started fouling to get the ball back with a minute left but missed opportunities from both the Huskies and Greybull and another couple big 3s from Philpott and Walker brought the Huskies within two points with 11 seconds left. Another made free throw from Greybull brought the final score to 50-47

M. James McNiven led the team with 12 points and six rebounds. Philpott had 11 points and Walker added seven points. The Huskies were only 31% from the field but an impressive 75% from the free throw line.

Saturday in Basin started with a close game with just a four-point lead at the end of the first quarter but the Huskies took control and in the second and third quarters, out-scored the Rebels 49-14 and finished a 69-27 win.

Philpott led the game with 14 points and nine rebounds. Kellen Winters scored 12 points, had seven rebounds and three assists and M.J. McNiven brought down 12 boards and added five points.

The Huskies will head to Meeteetse on Friday with a Varsity tipoff at 6:30 and 2 quarters of JV at 8 p.m. and will host St. Stephens on Saturday with a JV tipoff at noon and a Varsity tipoff at 3 p.m.
