Huskies beat the Pronghorns
With four weeks left in the regular season, the Burlington Huskies are currently ranked fourth in the state in six-man football behind undefeated and top-ranked Little Snake River, No. 2 Encampment and No. 3 Dubois.
The Huskies took to the road on Saturday to match up against Farson-Eden. “Farson is a good team that has enjoyed quite a bit of football success and we have had some great games against them over the years,” said Coach Trent Aagard.
With a final score of 65-12, Burlington spread their 65 points between six of their players. Joe Bassett had three touchdowns, Jordan Casey had two and Jordan Broederlow, Brikton Wardell, Hunter Aagard and Mikey Maroni all brought in one. Kyler Winters had five successful extra-point kicks and Wardell added one as well.
“We were able to roll a lot of players through which allowed us to stay fresh,” said Coach Aagard. “Jordan Casey did a nice job running routes and catching the ball. Our pass game was able to take some pressure off our run game which was good. It was also good to see more kids get involved in meaningful ways.”
Defensively, 11 players contributed to the 49 overall tackles with Joe Bassett leading the way with 16. “I thought we played as good defensively as we have all season,” said Aagard. “Our pass coverage did a good job of limiting their big plays and on offense, we were able to control the game. Overall, it is encouraging to see that as a team we are continuing to improve.”
The Huskies will play in Kaycee on Friday. Kickoff for the middle school is at noon and the varsity at 2 p.m.
