Huskies beat the Meeteetse Longhorns
The stormy weather broke long enough for a good game in Burlington on Friday. The Huskies bested Meeteetse in their Homecoming game.
“Meeteetse is always an exciting game for us. They are well coached and have some good athletes. I thought our guys played pretty well. We are starting to see some more players coming along,” said Coach Trent Aagard. “Joe Bassett did a good job setting a physical tone, Jordan Michaels was able to put up a lot of yards and Weston Gotfredson was able to get behind their defense for some big plays. We had a lot of guys contribute.”
Offensively, the Huskies jumped to a quick lead and continued to build that lead, heading into the half with 29 points. Meeteetse picked up its only points of the first half with just seconds left on the clock on a kickoff return. The Huskies won 51-28, getting five touchdowns from Michaels and two from Gotfredson.
On the defensive side, the Huskies had 46 total tackles with everyone on defense getting in on at least one assisted tackle and seven players getting one or more solo tackles. “Our rotation at the defensive line was able to generate good pressure for most of the game,” said Aagard. “It is good for us to see this team coming up with their own identity.”
The Huskies head to Farson on Saturday with kickoff at 2 and 4 p.m. with two quarters for the JV.
