Holidazzle leads off holiday festivities
The first weekend of December will again feature two of the most festive holiday events of the season in Greybull, with the Holidazzle celebration leading it off Friday night followed by the annual craft bazaar Saturday.
Now in its 19th year, the Holidazzle will start with a candy cane hunt at 4 p.m. on the east side of the library and include a free community chili dinner along with an appearance by Santa at the Elks and the lighted parade at 6 p.m. before concluding around 8 p.m.
Nearly every downtown business is participating in some way, with many offering refreshments in addition to discounts on merchandise.
The planning committee that put the whole thing together and promoted it far and wide included Carrie Hunt, Hailey Winkler, Lora Metheny, Cassie Reiter, Patti Hanson, Brandon Wardell, Shauna Tranas and Ashley Coenen.
As of Tuesday at noon, the town had received 27 entries for the lighted parade which starts at 6 p.m. Registrations will be accepted until 5 p.m. that day. Entries can begin lining up at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Greybull Avenue and South Third Street. Like always, the parade will start at the library and end at the planter. A panel of judges will evaluate this year’s entries, selecting prize winners in the large business, small business and open classes.
TCT is sponsoring the free chili dinner, with serving from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Elks. Santa will be there, too, visiting with children between 4 and 5:45 p.m. and 6:45 and 8 p.m. Kids are invited to drop off their letters and get a goodie bag.
The very first Holidazzle event will be the candy cane hunt at the Greybull Public Library. Children ages 12 and under are invited to bundle up and bring a bag to collect tasty treats. There will be over 500 candy canes hidden around the library grounds along with three special canes. The lucky children who find a marked cane will get a prize. The fun begins at 4 p.m. Participants should plan on lining up on the sidewalk to the east of the property.
